As I had a graduation ceremony, this hotel was perfect because it had a great location. Just a few minutes walking to the campus of the University of Essex. The room was spotless and very comfortable, so I had a nice sleep.

I booked a last minute night away with the children: afternoon tea followed by an overnight. The afternoon tea was delicious and I was really well catered for as a vegan diner. The Grand Hall was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. The children also loved their food - the sandwiches were much simpler for the children and they got seconds based on how delicious they were. Our room was large and had a sofa bed and a cot bed. We enjoyed playing in the grounds including the play area, outdoor chess, boules, the scavenger hunt and the fitness trail. My son also loved playing football in the garden - he was excited that there were goals set up. We had dinner in The Fox Bar and had drinks and played cards in the Grand Hall afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We were really excited to find newts in the pond. They would love to stay again. I would love to come for an overnight with my partner to experience it differently without the children.

We booked a compact double at an extremely good price so the room was small as expected but it had everything we needed. The breakfasts were excellent and i loved that they served til 10am. I loved the vibrant quirky look of the public areas. Our room overlooked the estuary and was at the end of the corridor. Lovely and warm and relatively quiet My only gripe were the loud fan in the ensuite and the inability to have a softer night light. The nascerator toilet was also very loud . For the money we were delughted with the service , location and amrnities

Zdecydowaliśmy się na pobyt w tym hotelu ze względu na jego dogodną lokalizację w pobliżu lotniska Stansted, ponieważ mieliśmy wczesny lot. Pokój był bardzo czysty, a łóżko wygodne, co czyniło go idealnym miejscem na odpoczynek przed podróżą. Na wyróżnienie zasługuje wyjątkowe wnętrze, a nasz pokój nazywał się „Lizbona”, co było miłym zbiegiem okoliczności, ponieważ Lizbona była jednym z naszych kolejnych celów podróży. Każdy pokój nosi nazwę miasta, co dodaje hotelowi wyjątkowego charakteru. Śniadanie było proste, ale smaczne, w sam raz na dobry początek dnia. Ogólnie rzecz biorąc, polecam ten hotel każdemu, kto szuka wygodnego i dobrze zlokalizowanego miejsca na nocleg przed wylotem z lotniska Stansted.

The swimming pool appeared quite big, although we didn't get a chance to use it. Our room was fairly roomy for two people, but with our group of four, it felt a bit crowded. It's worth noting that if you have heavy luggage, you might want to avoid booking a room on the top floor (second floor), as there are no lifts available in this hotel. The bathroom provided only shampoo and body wash, so you might need to bring or purchase your own conditioner. The breakfast exceeded my expectations. Despite anticipating a traditional British offering, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available, including English hot meals, a salad bar, a selection of cereals (there was Alpen!), milk alternatives (I particularly enjoyed the Oatly), and two coffee machines. Their breakfast was so impressive that I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again when I visit Colchester next time.

Friendly helpful staff, large rooms, beautiful decor, amazing value for money

The hotel is in a great location on the cliffs above the sea front. Everything was very clean and staff friendly and polite. We particularly liked the outside terrace area at the front of the hotel. We arrived by train and it is about a 15 minute walk from the station. Didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on food. Would certainly stay here again if we are ever in Southend on Sea.

Everything was fine in till I open the window and the who thing came off meaning the window fall out and I was with my family on the 5th floor and it’s a family room 518 so that was dangerous for my family to be fair so please sort it out asap before someone makes a fat claim

Szczerze mówiąc, pomijając fakt, że było tak blisko terminala, jak na wczesny start o 4 rano, to i tak było rozczarowujące. Długa kolejka do odprawy, mimo że personel był uprzejmy i serdeczny, musiałam przeskoczyć pudełko po pizzy, brudny kubek i kieliszek do wina wyrzucone przed moje drzwi, a kiedy weszłam do pokoju, nie byłam do końca przekonana, czy został on odpowiednio posprzątany. A co gorsza, brak ciasteczek! Z drugiej strony, było cicho, a wymeldowanie przebiegło szybko.

Beautiful hotel and grounds, well decorated room with everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing, with perfect poached eggs! All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.The Lychee Martini was an excellent recommendation too! Obviously, there was some aeroplane noise, but it didn't affect our stay. Would definitely recommend, and we look forward to our next stay!
