Good price with a nice view. View of the bridge during the day is breathtaking. The new wing’s rooms are a lot nicer. Not much service. No one helps you with luggage when you arrive. And staff don’t look too helpful or happy. The hotel is near outlet and easy drive to Kobe city centre. Breakfast is good with a lot of bread variety. You need to bring your room towel to public bath. For this price I wouldn’t mind staying there again.
Review of The Royal Park Canvas Kobe
I recently stayed at The Royal Park Canvas Kobe and found it to be a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the city. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Sannomiya Station, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and convenience stores nearby. Kobe Chinatown is close by, and iconic spots like the “Be Kobe” monument and Kobe Tower are within a pleasant 25-minute walk. The Kitano Ijikan district is also easily reachable on foot.
The hotel offers self-service check-in and check-out through machines, with front desk staff standing by if assistance is needed. My room had a relatively large bathroom, which added to the comfort. The buffet breakfast was not bad, and a fun highlight was the free ice cream available from 8pm to 10pm.
A thoughtful touch is the presence of two donation bins where travellers can drop off unwanted clothing—an environmentally friendly and community-minded initiative.
Overall, The Royal Park Canvas Kobe is a well-located, comfortable stay with nice little touches that enhance the experience.
The hotel is old yet classic. Everything is in general well maintained, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
The hotel may not be so accessible compared with those in Sannomiya, but the hotel offers shuttle bus to Sannomiya daily and Shin-Kobe on weekends. It helps you get around and go to the train stations. However, do note that the bus may be full sometimes. But even so or if you miss the bus, it won’t be long to walk to Kobe (Rapid and Special Rapid) or Motomachi (Rapid), depending on the train you need to take. I really like the view. Even the room not facing the sea has a nice view both during the day and night. The Meriken park is also just downstairs.
The hotel has a free self-service laundry and a Family Mart, but there are limited items to buy after 8 PM since no staff will be there. Another limitaiton is that the gym and the food service both close after 10 PM, if I recall correctly.
Huge hotel with great facilities, but gym, sauna, onsen and pool have to be paid extra and at high prices. That left a very bitter aftertaste. The room was large but a bit dated and could be cleaned better.
The service at the reception could be nicer and speak better English. However, the rest of the service staff were extremely nice and helpful. Early check-in was possible free of charge.
The hotel is very close to Kobe airport, but only offers a shuttle service for the train stations. Why not also for the airport is somewhat questionable.
A bit out of the way to main attractions as it’s on Rokko island but the direct bus to the airport made it worthwhile. The breakfast was ok but seems to be always running out of food due to the high number of guests. In room service was decent but expensive. Onsite onsen was good but crowded!
The high-end hotel that has the longest history in Kobe. It is above a free museum about Kobe. It was very luxurious, and had a wonderful restaurant for Kobe beef, but don't forget to reserve online. All rooms face a certain direction toward the mountains, but not toward the water.
During our stay, the gym was not available. And the location is surrounded by luxury brands, not by the station or markets for food.
the location was perfect for a conference I had at KCUFS. the first room smelled like smoke but we moved to another one that was fine. The hotel reminded me of Vegas Tropicana. Surrounding area was very convenient for what I needed. Beds were hard but otherwise everything was fine. thank you.

It’s very nice view from the balcony and felt relax all the time. Also it’s quiet and comfortable bed so I fell in asleep in the middle of the night. I love this atmosphere around the hotel cuz there’re ocean and flower park nearby the place so I could relax hearing the sound of ocean waves in the night.
Definitely I would love to come back here again.

Great
Sshally731Due to a late flight, I didn't arrive at the hotel until after midnight. The room wasn't huge, but the bed was big, and the bathroom had a great dry/wet separation. For Japan, this place is excellent! The hotel's location is also fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from Sannomiya Station, and Don Quijote is right across the street. The breakfast was a buffet; while not a massive selection, everything was exquisite. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.
GGuest UserOverall, our stay was good, especially the location. The room is a bit old but still well maintained.
However, we were not happy with one aspect of the service. A staff member (possibly a manager or senior from the F&B team) was not very professional and came across as quite rude.
He physically blocked us from entering the breakfast area without listening to our explanation. We clearly mentioned that our friend was already inside and had a table, and we were just trying to confirm the table number. However, he insisted we go to Level 1 for breakfast and did not allow us to explain further.
We had to go back and forth between the lift, trying to contact our friend, which was quite frustrating. Only after we showed him a photo did he finally allow us to enter.
What surprised us most was that the restaurant was actually quite empty, with many available tables. We don’t understand why we were told it was full and asked to go elsewhere.
We hope the hotel can improve staff communication and professionalism to avoid similar situations in the future.
GGuest UserOverall, a wonderful place. We highly recommend it. It was a wonderful walk from the station to the hotel, and we were greeted with the utmost courtesy, explained everything, and shown around. We were shown to our room and given instructions. We booked a traditional room with futons, and the view from the window was simply stunning. The onsen includes two hot springs, a comfortable changing area with massage chairs, a sauna, and a cold plunge pool. They give free passes to seven public baths in the village. There's a shuttle that takes you to various walking spots. The prices are reasonable. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. We were very satisfied and would love to come back!
GGuest UserStayed on a refurbished executive floor, but the 'refurbishment' was really just a change in decor; the crucial hardware facilities, like the bathroom, were still old. The breakfast was absolutely delightful – a great variety and quite refined. I especially loved the sea bream chazuke and the hand rolls. The curry rice was also good, and they even had ice cream at breakfast, which made the kids incredibly happy!
__WeChat27932****The hot spring is really big, and you can enjoy both the upstairs and downstairs pools for free. There's a shuttle bus to Sannomiya Station. The room views are absolutely stunning, perfect for couples. Breakfast was just okay, but overall, it's a great stay.
GGuest UserThis hotel is in a prime, bustling location in Kobe, surrounded by luxury brands downstairs, making it super convenient to get around. The room wasn't as old as I expected and was quite spacious. The 'harbor view' was pretty much non-existent though. Amenities and bedding were excellent. Interestingly, check-in is on the top floor, where all the restaurants are located too, and it gets quite busy with diners.
GGuest UserThe location is fantastic, right in the heart of Kobe's artificial island at Shimin Hiroba (Citizens' Plaza). It's incredibly convenient for the airport, and the hotel even offers a free shuttle to Sannomiya Station, which is excellent – though I only found that out on my last day, unfortunately! The surrounding scenery gives you a real sense of Japan's booming high-growth period. The hotel epitomizes Japanese service style, and the rooms are really spacious, much larger than many other Japanese hotels I've stayed in, with plenty of room for all your luggage. Breakfast was incredibly rich and varied, and the 30th-floor restaurant offers panoramic views of Kobe Port. It's a shame the weather wasn't great during my stay, but I hope to visit Kobe again on a sunny day next time!
MMM0112The view of the hotel is very beautiful and the room is large and comfortable. The decoration in the room is very design, and the electrical appliances are all up-to-date. The service was very good and the rest was very good. We chose breakfast in the room and enjoyed the sunrise and sunset here. We were very happy. There are also buffet snack bars on the 3rd floor. Don't miss ~ If the weather is good, you must spread it around the hotel or ride a bicycle. It's too comfortable. 😌 I have lived in several hotels nearby. This is definitely the most cost-effective + comfortable!
IIce Cream SodaStaying 2 night in the hotel , hotel lobby my look abit dated. Rooms are spacious for Japan hotel standard. Hotel provide daily skin care and there is an ice machine on every floor. It also provide shuttle bus in every 15 min to your ne of the station. Shopping mall in 10-15 minutes walking distance we took a taxi from
The shopping mall cost 1000yen. Breakfast from the hotel are impressive .
AAnonymous UserFrom Osaka Uehommachi, go directly to Uozaki (Google Maps says ”no transfer” means you get off and change to the next bus at the same platform), then transfer to the Rokko Express (which offers a wonderful view and a unique experience). Get off at Island Center Station three stops later, and the hotel is right at the East Exit of the overpass. Bus No. 23 is located on the first floor of the hotel, reaching Kobe Mita in the city center in about 20 minutes. The stop is right in front of the Hankyu Department Store. There are also buses to Shin-Kobe, but they run less frequently. The bus to Kobe Airport is also on the first floor. Reservations can be made at the front desk, and there's a self-service ticket machine at the entrance. The earliest bus leaves at 6:23 AM, and the trip takes just over an hour.
There's a FamilyMart convenience store next to the hotel. We booked a terrace room, which had a large outdoor terrace. The hotel's Hama Onsen is open until midnight and features several large and small pools, including an outdoor area. It's a great place to soak after strolling through the streets.
