Hostels w: Shanxi, China

I arrived in Datong on a whim and booked this hostel last minute. I stayed in the 12-bed dorm which is a large dorm with a small table and chairs, lockers, a sink to brush your teeth/wash your face and a private bathroom (with a hot water shower and toilet). The beds were comfy and have curtains and the airconditioning is strong. WiFi works well too. The dorm and the bathroom are cleaned every day. The hostel provides face towels, earplugs, toothbrushes and toilet paper. There is a comfortable lounge area just outside of the dorms. It is really a great hostel, but there is one negative aspect, the private bathroom: the glass is semi-see through (which isn’t too bad since there are just women in the room), but it lets through all the noise and light. So when somebody goes to the toilet and turns on the light the whole room lights up which even with the curtains closed will disturb your sleep. Also, the toilet flush is very loud so every time somebody flushes the toilet it can be heard through the entire room which again disturbs sleep. If you’re a deep sleeper or don’t mind wearing ear plugs then I can definitely recommend the hostel!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. There is quite a bit to see around Lingqiu, and I should have stayed one extra night or two. Miss Liu (刘小姐), the front receptionist, was extremely helpful, even going all the way to accompany me to the bus stop to catch the bus heading to the Pingxingguan Battle site. Miss Liu also assisted with booking a cab for my visit to the Jueshan Pagoda. This famous Pagoda was founded before England was established by William the Conqueror (if I am wrong, then pardon me, but the Pagoda was built sometime before 1077 A.D. during the Northern Wei Dynasty). Miss Liu also directed me to the gravesite of King Wu of the Northern Wei Dynasty which is right in downtown Lingqiu. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. One restaurant, next door to the right of the hotel, serves a wondering braised fish; the other a few doors away, sells delicious meat pies. My room was professionally cleaned and serviced daily. The hotel even allows me to doze off on the reception floor sofa to await my night train to Beijing. I will return to this hotel if I return to Lingqiu.

The location is just ok, i haven't done so much turism there but ia a bit far from the center, the capsule is very good and they clean everything everyday. There's no stuff there so I had to ask for help to a guy just walking through the street to get in as I needed a code and they weren't answering me throw the app, tried to call them but hunged up when I talked in English.. but a part from that everything was good!

I came to Datong and stayed here for three days. Downstairs is the antique street of the ancient city. It is very close to Huayan Temple. It is very convenient for shopping and eating. It is a youth hostel run by an old couple with a very good attitude. There are also two big oranges in the store, one is a relative and the other is aloof, which is very nice~

The hotel has a good location, not far from Datong Ancient City, just two or three bus stops away. There's also a small park nearby, so the air is fresh. The room isn't big, with windows in the hallway, but it's not bad. The room is fully equipped, the mattress is comfortable, and the sheets and duvet covers are quite clean. The only downside is that the towels in the bathroom aren't disposable, but otherwise it's fine. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, including Impression Datong and Yunjinhui, both serving local Shanxi specialties at reasonable prices; I recommend trying them. Getting a taxi is also very convenient; there are many taxis on the street that will stop on your whim, even more convenient than ride-hailing services.

The environment is very good, there are many foods around, clean and clean, work on a business trip passing by Linyi West Station, this is very close to the high-speed rail station, I highly recommend this hotel.

This hostel is very good! Friendly service and all help with questions. The location is also good, located a stone's throw from the city wall. Historical building with nice decorations. Friendly house dog that comes to meet you barking happily.

Despite its small door, everyone mistakenly thinks it is a small hotel, but it is actually an express hotel. The room facilities are also configured according to the facilities of a hotel standard room, but the price is much cheaper. The stay is very comfortable and the transportation is very convenient. Turn left when you go out. Not far away is Causeway Bay, and just past is Clock Tower Street. Boss, I forgot to bring a charging cable, so he immediately found one for me to borrow (when I checked out, I originally agreed to leave it in the room, but accidentally put it in my bag and took it away. Don’t worry, the boss will definitely give it to you after the work is done. Send it back 😂), the heating is also great.

This hotel is located right in front of Taiyuan Station. It's cheap. It's on the first basement floor of a building. The single room is quite small, about 1.5 tatami mats, and has no windows. It's not very clean, so it's good for people who just want to sleep.
