The hotel was pretty good but the bedroom was SOOO hot, it was cooler outside. Thankfully there was a fan for use in the room. Unfortunately I did not get a room near my travelling companion, not even on the same floor, despite being on the same booking. The lock on my door (room 16) did not work properly so I propped a chair against it overnight. A standard lamp in my room was not working. The room and bed was very comfortable and clean and despite being on the ground floor, right by the car park, I didn't get disturbed by other guests or cars. The restaurant was busy and a bit manic but the staff were pleasant and the vegan option I chose for dinner was very nice. Breakfast was okay but the plant-based cooked option I chose could've done with being hot. The coffee from the self-serve machine was really nice.

Great hotel with a lot of history to it, and as such a very nice place to stay at. Friendly and approachable staff. Unfortunately, I had booked two rooms without adequate facilities; one room did not have hot water and the other had a malfunctioning shower. Could have been bad luck, and I suspect the hotel management to be able to fix this issue.

Now under new ownership, things have changed, for the better. The lady in reception could not do enough for us.  We were offered several rooms to choose from which is very rare. The secure parking area was shown to us, the gate opened and then shown from there to our room. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom. Very polite, very friendly and excellent value for the money. So glad the pub has gone, it was a bit loud but now 9t was lovely and quiet. A good nights sleep was had by us both and we will always use this place when travelling via ferry. For us, although it’s not a five star hotel, for what we were given and the friendliest welcome it gets a 5 star review from us.

Travelled on Saturday afternoon and was greeted warmly at reception and checked in very quickly with no hassle. Went up to our room which was clean,cosy and very comfy. There was everything we would need if needed,plenty of towels, toiletries and tea and coffee. Went down to the bar to meet friends and was greeted with more polite, friendly staff. Later in the evening we had a meal which was excellent. Will definitely go back for another visit. Highly recommended.

My 4th time in the hotel. Location is great since it is in the center of town. Food is also good but I would prefer more variety for breakfast hot meal. No elevator so difficult for people travelling with big bags. Staff is just friendly and super helpful.

I lived in the town before and used this pub only stayed 1 night food and beer excellent and all staff very friendly it's in the best location if I am ever in Chelmsford again would be my first place to call on

Beautiful place and Lovley quiet suite ! Amazing dinner and full breakfast Beautiful surroundings and very attentive and friendly staff ! We will be back and hopefully maybe a wedding ! Thankyou

The service was good staff pleasant breakfast was ok it was Continental breakfast very little choice I would pay a little more and had the choice for a full English

Nice stay here, cosy room and friendly service. Centrally located in the town so perfect for visiting Stamford, in walking distance to everything I needed.
