Hotel Vila da Guarda

We were doing the Camino and stopped here. They honestly could not have been more helpful. Two examples. They turned around laundry while we were out for dinner - a kind of magic when you are on a long sweaty walk. They also arranged a picnic for us for an early start the following day. So impressive!

This seems to be a 1960’s hotel that has a very plain style. Our room was clean, but very cramped for space. The hotel is a couple of blocks up the hill from the harbor front. It was ok for a one night quick stay, but that’s probably it. Dinner was at a remote restaurant on the harbor, because they don’t have anything but what looks like a cafeteria, with only service in the morning. The breakfast was a little minimal, but was available at 8 when needed. There’s not a lot to do in A Garda.

Nice big room with full bathroom. (A nice treat for a tired pilgrim walking the Camino.) Shops, restaurants and bars all an easy walk away. Good selection at the included buffet breakfast.

A great town with an excellent hotel. Great room and very clean. Comfortable bed and great shower. Very helpful at reception and laundry service phenomenally good and quick. Central location and five minutes to the harbour. Looking forward to breakfast. Only downside like the bar I visited is the Wi-Fi is intermittent

Stayed here for one night while walking the Camino Portuguese. The hotel is situated in the centre of town close to the Camino Route. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was small but spotless. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good, choice of cereals, meats and bread. Pleased with my stay.

Although the mattress was very comfortable, and the room was adequate for our needs, the noise outside our room kept us up all night. No air conditioning so we had to keep the windows open. People were singing and yelling outside until 4:30 a.m. both nights. The reaction from hotel staff was "It's always like that on Fridays and Saturdays." The breakfast was simple but good.

This was booked as part of a package and I wish it hadn’t been. I was walking the Camino and while the town isn’t big, the uphill location wasn’t the best for me. The room was stuffy and stale when I entered. The small window was broken; it only opened at the top and did not swing open as so many do. There was no fan or AC in the small room. No tub only a shower with tepid water in the morning. the breakfast was sad. No eggs and too many carbs, canned pineapple. I felt there wasn’t much love put into this place. I only found the man at the front desk who made an effort to use google translate helpful.

Hotel antiguo, muy reformado con habitación minimalista, muy limpia y luminosa, el baño grande. Una gran ventaja es que esta muy centrico, a 200 metros del puerto y restaurantes. El servico de lavanderia funciona muy bién. No hay servico de comedor, tienes que salir fuera aunque el personal de recepción me indicó perfectamente alternativas en el puerto. El desayuno flojo.
