While the front desk staff were excellent, very helpful and responsive to our needs, we had some issues with this property that would make us not recommend it to visitors.
First, it was quite noisy - road / traffic noise, noise from adjacent suites / hallways. Not totally unexpected given the location next to the freeway and off-ramp, but it would have been nice if more investment had been made into making it more soundproof during construction.
Second (no fault of the hotel's), other guests using the pool area were super loud and disruptive, had brought their glass beer bottles into the pool area, and had their stuff strewn all over the place.
Third, the jets in the hot tub seemed to be non-functional. Tried all the buttons on the switch, and none seemed to work.
Fourth, the one vending machine on site that sold beverages (on the 4th floor) was out of order.
Lastly, upon check-in, the heat in our room had been cranked to 26 degrees C, and was unbearably hot. We heard some other guests commenting how hot their room was when they opened the door, so this may be something the maintenance staff are doing on purpose? If so, when we're being charged an extra couple of dollars per night for "environmental initiatives" as per the sign at check-in, the energy wastefulness of this practice seems silly.
Given those issues, we'd recommend the other Sandman location on Simon Avenue instead.
