Principe Alogna Hotel & Spa

TUI on their write up are not telling the whole truth. They fly into the airport which is nearly two hours away. They should fly into Palmero. The hotel is beautiful but set in the mountains with no local transport. To walk to the nearest village is dangerous and takes around 45 minutes downhill and coming back is all up hill. They do not mention where the hotel is located, so unless you have your own transport it’s expensive for taxi etc. Definitely not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility issues. We couldn’t use the pool because everyday it was being cleaned, for most of the day. We weren’t allowed to use the Spa facilities unless we paid extra. The hotel was beautiful and the staff lovely. We wrote a complaint to TUI and they weren’t interested in the slightest. I notice they still haven’t made travellers aware of the unsuitability for people with mobility issues. The shops and restaurants aren’t close by, spa facilities are extra and I would like to see this swim up bar, because we never saw it!

This hotel is a true gem. The location is perfect, quiet and has an ocean view nestled among orange and lemon trees. The rooms are incredibly spacious, with large bathrooms. There was a pull out couch for our son, and a comfortable bed for my husband and I. Parking was ample (and free), with an overflow lot just down the road. Breakfast was included in the hotel price and the first day, the table was set for our family with juice, pastries/ croissants, yogurts, meats and cheeses. Eggs were available upon request, cooked to order. The hotel staff was friendly and super accommodating. They were very kind to us, and to our son. We utilized the spa area (extra cost- but worth it). There are 2 saunas, a large hot tub and a perfect indoor pool. During the summer there is an outdoor pool (which was closed while we were there since we stayed in the winter). They even brought champagne to us while swimming one evening! We ate at the restaurant one night of our stay, and the food was good- but limited option and small portions for the price (does not open until 7:30pm - and make a reservation). The nearby town offers so many restaurant options that it was not a deal breaker for us. We would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat, and we appreciated it's quiet beauty. We were able to take day trips from there to Agrigento, and Cefalu very easily. Lovely trip!

We would actually rate this hotel as 4.5 stars but that is not an option available on TA. This spa hotel is a half hour walk out of the nearest town, St. Nicola l'Arena, in very peaceful countryside, amongst olive groves, lemon & like trees. Most guests came by car which was very sensible given the remoteness. We arrived by train and had to cadge a lift as there was no taxi or shuttle or public transport directly to the hotel. We walked down to St. Nicola l'Arena several days to get the train which was fine but a car would have been much more handy. The hotel is modern, spotlessly clean, well organised and well equipped with an outdoor pool (unheated) included and you can pay extra for an indoor pool (heated), spa pool, sauna, steam room and massage treatments. The staff were very helpful and gave us recommendations for visits, timetables, etc. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a good choice of quality options including local cheese and fruit. The only problems we encountered were noise from the kids in the room next door - but the hotel moved us to a quieter room and there was a noisy birthday party one night which went on quite late. There is a train station and bus in St. Nicola l'Arena, but no ticket office so buy your train ticket in advance or online. St. Nicola l'Arena also had a small supermarket and a small choice of cafes and restaurants.

My first solo trip was made up because of the staff, they were excellent and went out of their way the whole week to help me out when needed. They provided lifts everyday to ensure I got where I needed safely and made me feel so comfortable being a 22 year old on my own. As the hotel was out of the way of anything I would suggest car hire if you can. They contacted people for me to organise day trips ect and were overall very kind and friendly people. The breakfast was lovely and had a wide variety of hot and cold foods. The evening meals were lovely and very presentable, if the steak is on the menu, you will not regret ordering it, the best steak I have had. The pool facilities were great, quiet and stunning views of the mountains. I would make note that the spa facilities and indoor pool are of extra charge if you wish to use them. The whole hotel was very very clean and my room was cleaned everyday for 7 days. If you are looking for somewhere to unwind and relax I would definitely recommend this hotel for you. Thank you all the staff of this hotel for making my trip to Sicily the best it could have been and for all your help throughout my stay.

This hotel is just wonderful in every way. We booked this via Tui and were surprised to be put so far away from the airport as we flew into Catania. But our experience at the hotel totally made up for our confusion over flights and transfers (caused completely by Tui not the hotel). From the moment we arrived we were spoilt totally - fantastic room. breakfast, staff, pool area, spa - all just wonderful. The hotel is fairly new and absolutely spotless - cleaning is of a very high standard. Thank yous must go to Silvio, Raquel, Vernonica and Carlo. You made our holiday. A tip for travellers - If you stay here you will need a car.

Absolute gorgeous hotel. Accommodation is first class. Rooms are spacious and a very comfortable bed. Staff are lovely, especially Sofia and Silvio who are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Definitely would recommend this hotel

Un giorno speciale rovinato da tanta improvvisazione e rispetto nullo verso i clienti paganti. Musica assordante, mancanza di organizzazione del servizio spa, servizi compresi già nel pacchetto prenotato presentati come loro omaggi per scusarsi delle innumerevoli mancanze. L'unico momento di relax è stato nel momento in cui abbiamo varcato il cancello di uscita per scappare via dall'hotel dopo 4 ore dal nostro primo ingresso.

Avevamo prenotato il pacchetto con spa, prosecco e colazione. All’arrivo concordiamo l’ingresso in spa per le ore 19. Dopo pochi minuti dall’accesso in camera sentiamo una musica martellante e parecchio fastidiosa provenire dalla piscina: chiamiamo la reception per chiedere gentilmente se fosse possibile abbassare un po’ il volume (NON spegnere la musica, abbassare il volume) e ci viene risposto che non era possibile perché c’era una festa privata e il deejay metteva la musica (ancora non mi è chiara la risposta) ma se volevamo potevano sporcarci in un’altra stanza. Dopo poco ci chiamano dicendo che la festa si sarebbe prolungata e per scusarsi ci avrebbero allungato l’ingresso in spa di 30 minuti (quindi non 1.30h ma 2 ore) ma l’indomani mattina e che ci avrebbero regalato il Prosecco (che invece era incluso nel pacchetto ma che non abbiamo mai ricevuto). Facciamo presente che per noi non sarebbe stato possibile spostare la spa all’indomani perché avremmo lavorato e quindi saremmo andati via dopo colazione. Ci segnalano allora che alcuni clienti avevano chiesto di prolungare la loro permanenza in spa e quindi non era più possibile per noi effettuarla alle 19 ma o l’indomani mattina o alle ore 21, altrimenti avrebbero dovuto dire a questi clienti che non avrebbero potuto prolungare la permanenza in spa (incredibile ma vero). Ci rifiutiamo perché volevamo rispettare l’orario concordato inizialmente, quindi decidiamo di non farla, e oltre a un “va bene, mi dispiace” non riceviamo altro. Dunque, avremmo dovuto spostare un servizio prenotato e a pagamento per permettere ad altri di prolungare un servizio di cui avevano già usufruito. La giornata di relax era ormai rovinata ed essendoci sentiti anche presi in giro decidiamo di andare via dopo 4 ore dall’arrivo. Ci viene addebitato il day use di 50 euro. Mi dispiace ma è stata un’esperienza pessima.

Ottima cucina, cibo buonissimo e abbondante, percorso benessere bellissimo, staff gentile ed educato sempre col sorriso in bocca, camere della struttura spaziose e pulite, ottimo posto per rilassarsi immersi nella tranquillità del posto
