The Big Texan Motel

I was very much looking fwd to staying a night at the Big Texan and made reservations though *******. The reservation process went well and I arrived around 7PM. When I enteted my room there was a significant ceiling leak with an hotel ice bucket catching the steady flowing water in the front window right above the heat pump....and the bucket was nearly full. Needless to say, I instantly went down to the front office and told the front desk person. She sincerely apologized and quickly got me another room. When I entered the new room, both beds appeared to be slept in and when I went over to tje bathroom sink there were a couple used towels and water on the countertop - as if someone had literally just used the sink. At this point - I became a bit nervous that I had been given another guests room in error and they might walk in any moment and think I was a burglar. I was extremely upset and once again went down to the front office. The young lady was completely surprised by what I told her and once again apologizef for the debacle. At this point, I was pretty upset overall and decided to leave and get reliable accomodations elsewhere. I am hoping that ******* and Big Texan management will contact me about this unfortunate situation. However, if they don't, I plan on contacting both ******* and the Big Texan management directly to get my money back. Overall, my "Big Texan" Experience was "very poor" to be polite about it.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Check-in was very convenient. It was a very short walk to the restaurant.

Great stop on the I40 Lots to do and see. well worth it. Not to mention the steaks don't miss it.

Needs to be up graded. Not clean at all. Refrigerator didn’t work. If you like camping this is the place for you.

This was one of the most unique stays I’ve had. The motel looked like an old western general store and the room had the look of an old saloon. The check in process was very easy and no interaction was needed for check in. Simple and easy.

Easy check in and out. Love that it was pet friendly. Room was nice. Bed had springs coming out the side. But, overall, it was alright for a place to sleep after a long trip.

Love a themed motel and this one delivered. Saloon doors, murals of the west, campy guest messages, old town facade, all good things. It’s across from a delightfully kitschy steakhouse with a serious steak challenge. Reasonable pet fee. Beds were pretty firm and there is a lot of road noise from I-40 so bring ear plugs. Rooms were very clean though. There is a horse hotel in the back so be careful where you step. There is also a small patch for doggy relief but nobody cleaned up after their pets so we did not use it. We would stay again for a night but would look elsewhere for a longer stay.

Room is cute country western decor ,room was warm and cozy upon entry as it was snowing and chilly . Bathroom shower needs some work in regards to new caulking,maybe a new install ? Ceiling in bathroom has seen better days and needs work for the water damage . No TV service due to the weather .

Passed by a couple times and this time we decided to stay in the motel and have dinner at the Big Texan. Great food and a unique experience. Any steak you could want. We will be back!
