We stayed in this hotel with family and friends in 2016 and had a wonderful stay. We were looking forward to repeating the experience but the opposite tuned out to be the case. We arrived and the staff at reception were unable to explain why the outstanding balance was higher than the amount on my confirmation e.mail. They said that they would have an answer by the time we returned from our trip to the Anne Frank museum. We returned to be greeted at reception by the most obnoxious person that i have ever met.He was totally disinterested in the fact that he wanted to charge us more than was stated on the hotels confirmation and told us point blank "that if we didn't pay the higher amount we would not get into the hotel" when my wife tried to remonstrate with him he said "i'm not talking to you i'm talking to the man that's paying". Who says that in the 21st century to a 70 year old lady.Under duress i paid the amount he was demanding because we had no alternative. The following day i spoke with the manager who explained why the amounts differed which was due to a change in the tourist tax that was introduced after my booking. Clearly the person that i had spoken to the previous day had no idea what he was doing, had no interpersonal skills and was in the wrong job.The hotel itself was very tired with dirty rugs in the breakfast room. At breakfast there were always shortages and guests asking for items such as plates, mugs, bread, fruit, cutlery. Nobody cleared tables while people were eating so tables were laden with dirty plates, bowls etc and even when guests left their tables remained uncleared for too long. The staff didn't ask if you wanted to order off the menu you had to catch there attention and ask. I ordered a poached egg during my first breakfast and it never arrived. All in all a very disappointing experience and at over £300.00 a night B & B not somewhere that i would recommend
