When on vacation we love to find really interesting places to lodge at; the Faralda Crane Hotel is hands-down the most unique place we've ever stayed. Getting to the hotel: The instructions provided by the owner lead you directly from the Amsterdam Centraal train station. They guided us flawlessly to the Crane, and the ferry ride was quick and fun. Finding your room: Once you arrive at the crane, it's a bit of an adventure to reach your rooms. First, you need to enter your code in the keypad to unlock the door (hint: look for "password" to the left of the door). Second, you will take an industrial elevator up to the lounge deck, where you will need to locate a second elevator to ascend to your room. This second elevator is tiny, so depending on your luggage, you may need to make two trips. This second elevator will open directly into your room (we stayed on level 2, the "Secret" room). Accommodations: The accommodations are "sexy". Plush pillows, velvet drapes, cuddle nooks, etc. Amenities range from drinks to massage oil. The shampoo and other supplies smell lovely, and it's worth taking a bath in the copper tub. The hot tub on the top level has a fantastic view, and was pretty warm, though not hot. It's normally an additional 90 euros, however, it was complimentary for our stay (we are on our honeymoon, so worth mentioning special occasions). Service: The owner (Edwin) and his assistant (Olga) are very friendly. They are excited to show you the hotel and if you need help with anything, they are just a WhatsApp message away and will do their best to assist. Edwin even came up to help with the Sonos system when it wasn't working properly. Notes on value: It's definitely a unique stay! If you are looking for *luxury*, you may be disappointed. While the stay is very nice, it's not to the same standard as a stereotypical "five-star" hotel. To be fair, this is not a stereotypical hotel! If you love adventure, the experience is well worth a night or two. We have no regrets.
