Valentine’s Day meal at Lavender House was exception. Looked after with a warm welcome and settled into Lavender Suite. This room has a lovely four poster bed, lounge area and bathroom with a big shower, bath and mood lighting. We began in the bar which had a roaring real fire, and settled down with a bottle of house wine. To the meal, candle lit, and with a wonderful classical guitarist who was faultless the whole evening. We had a sharing platter with anti-pasti, a selection of meats, cheese, olives and breads. For the mains I had the filet of beef, which was done to perfection, my partner had the chicken, served with veg and fondant potatoes. We had cheese and biscuits which came as an impressive selection, with plenty of crackers and seedless grapes. Ended with coffee and home made truffles. We were even given a rose as a romantic gesture. If I had one criticism it would be the portion size, it was so incredibly generous. Ever get to that point when it’s so delicious that you want to eat more, but your tummy is telling you that you are full? Oh I forgot they also threw in a generous sized glass of Prosecco. The staff were attentive, friendly and we left to go to the room feeling thoroughly spoilt. The room was quiet, the four poster comfortable and we slept soundly. The breakfast was freshly cooked and one again the portions really generous. We had English Muffins with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. It was perfect !
