R Hotel Experiences

Very nice hotel, beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast, great restaurant, the spa was a supplement of 15€ for 4 hours, but worthed. The staff was very helpful. The only tip for improvement is the slippery shower and the shower door that didn’t close well.

The hotel is very nice and modern. Clean rooms, delicious food both breakfast and dinner, great location for an active holiday. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy wellness however, this is probably not your place. Access to the wellness area is 15 EUR/half day but the first time there was aqua gym for 2 hours which is not what we were looking for in a wellness area. The second time they were mowing the lawn which also took away a few hours of peace and quiet but we understand that this has to happen and we just had some bad luck. The most negative point was the closing time of breakfast which during week days is 10:00 however on the first day at 09:55 they turned off both coffee machines which from a hospitality point of view gave us a very bad feeling. By exactly 10:00 the entire buffet was cleared and by 10:10 we were asked to leave which strictly speaking is correct but just doesn't feel relaxed. We would expect more of a "last round at 10:00 and take your time to grab a final coffee when you are finished". All in all, very nice and clean looking hotel with nice food and probably a great stay for people looking for an active holiday (f.e. cycling and hiking) with waking up early (way before breakfast closing), but not your place to go for a few days of relaxing and enjoying welness.

Nice hotel, modern design and super location. Making a reservation for 2 parents and 2 kids via the hotel website doesn't work. The reservation engine allows only 3 max. The family suites can accommodate 4, so no worries, just contact the hotel for a booking. A real pitty that the restaurant isn't open at Sunday's, and the bar closes in the afternoon. Staff is a mix of helpful and friendly and less friendly people. Only french style bread, so no big bread slices. What I really dislike is that you have to cut your bread, while a queue of people is looking at your fingers waiting to go through the same silly cut your bread procedure. From an hygiene point if of view, apart from getting nervous, not the best way forward. But yes, this is in most other hotels the same scene.

Very friendly and kind personnel. The room and bathroom are spacious enough. We slept better in the bed than ours at home. Big screen TV, but available Flemish channels were not from good quality to view. Big bikeshop in the building for sportive bikers. The hotel is an ideal base to start your trip. The restaurant Umami: congratulations to the chef and his team for preparing tasty food. Thanks to all for the friendlyness. We will advice this hotel to family and probably will return when we need some rest en "reform" time.

This hotel as a building is lovely, modern, clean and comfortable. This was spoilt by the attitude from the majority of the staff. Aywaille is a difficult place to travel to if you do not have a car, the hotel offers zero help in getting you from a to b. The bus route is very unclear and when I asked the receptionist for directions on leaving her reply was "Sorry I don't live around here" The breakfast was on the whole good but some of the food was not fresh especially the boiled eggs!

Stopped in for lunch having stumbled across this hotel..lovely place millions spent,,shame they didn't brief the staff that a smile or some service might be a good thing..wont return ..real sham the decor etc was lovely

Lovely place to stay. The restaurant was incredible. Good gym and spa facilities. All the staff where very helpful and welcoming.

Nice hotel. Enjoyed the pool, although was not aware I had to pay extra for that until arrival. Nicely equipped gym included with the hotel. I had a nice meal at the restaurant as well. The bed was a bit uncomfortable for me and the bathroom area (except toilet) is open to the room (so loud if you have a partner with you)…but otherwise lovely stay.

The positives: Check-in was pleasant. The room was nice and clean. The food at the restaurant was very good, the breakfast was good. The negatives: On our last day an alarm went off at around 06:00 so we left the room of course. At the lobby nobody knew what was going on. Just one person from the staff was confusingly walking back and forth without giving us any information. Other guests, just like us, were confused about the situation. The alarm would go on and off for about 45 minutes without anyone knowing what was going on and without anyone telling us what was going on. Pure confusion. When the alarm stopped we went back to the room and thought we can have an early breakfast to forget the unpleasant and very early morning. Going to the kitchen we were then greeted by the kitchen staff telling us that the breakfast was delayed and we would have to come back later. To summarize: Luckily it was a false alarm, just imagine if it was for real, it would have been pure chaos. In this case the negatives could have been fixed very easily. More information could have been given to the guests who were waiting in the cold outside while the alarm was being fixed. We knew nothing. When guests go to the kitchen to have breakfast and most of the food is there you do not send them out and tell them to come back later, you offer them coffee and you apologize for the crappy morning we were having. Luckily it was just a false alarm. Not a place I would recommend.
