Me and my brother stayed at the end of June for 2 nights half board. The hotel itself smelt really clean and very fresh. The rooms were clean but much smaller than expected. We asked for two single beds but we received a double room. The food was pretty tasteless and not a very big variety. I did end up going hungry. There is a nice pathway from the garden into Bad Aussee. It is a very steep climb back up though. Our first night staying here at Midnight a coach load of kids turned up having a party in the car park. They were not staying at the hotel but kept us up till 2am. This was a very disturbed night. The staff were not very friendly. It did seem to be an inconvenience to be working for them. The sauna we didn’t bother using as you would have to wait 30 minutes for it to warm up. You still have to pay in your total which was not aware to us until paying in person even if you don’t wish to use it. If you are staying on one of the top floors it can be very difficult taking all your luggage upstairs as there is no lift. The toilets in our bedrooms didn’t flush properly and there was constant trickling sound of water all night. If you would like to play table pool it is 2 Euros a game. There are 2 rooms to eat Breakfast/Dinner. All the guests were shut out of the 2nd room with the big windows with the nice views. We weren’t sure why. Minimal parking as they like to leave the car park for the coaches who come in and out. We probably wouldn’t choose this hotel if we were staying in the area again. Please don’t compare this review to JUFA hotel Grundlsee. I would travel 5 miles just to stay in the hotel if visiting Bad Aussee.
A very nice hotel in an incredible beautiful emperor place of Styria, with the best view from your balcony. Very nice room with all the amenities, very kind employees, good but not special breakfast, not good at all the lunch snack, BUT an EXCELLENT dinner menu!!! Chef must only correct his crême brûlée. His caramel on top of it was not crispy and crunchy and strong at all. Was almost melted with the crême. The sauna, the swimming pools and spa really good.

Chalets to feel good in a fantastic location, but the service is too weak for this price range! When we moved in, the terrace, balcony and seating were very dirty. The table is full of stains. The batteries on some of the blind controls are empty, the kettle is broken, and there are still capsules from the previous tenant in the coffee machine. That probably shouldn't happen at this price! The restaurants are great. I'm Wassermann perfect service, otherwise often inexperienced employees
I originally wanted to stay in Hallstatt, but couldn't find suitable accommodation there, so I booked this hotel. Although it was the most expensive hotel on this trip, we were not disappointed. The hotel is located on a hillside by the lake. Our room is located by the lake, with lawns and lake views right outside the door. There are two chairs and a small table at the door of each room, as well as a lounge chair. If the weather is warm, you can drink coffee and bask in the sun while enjoying the beautiful scenery. It's winter. Forget it. There are cooking facilities and tableware in the room. If you want to cook by yourself, you can buy the ingredients in advance. When I opened the door in the morning, the view of the lake shrouded in morning mist was really beautiful. Breakfast food is rich. There are many parking spaces, and the farthest location is not too far from the room.
This beautiful small hotel is located on road in Grundlsee facing the lake. They have a car park on the opposite road. We stayed in the room facing the fantastic view of the lake and therefore is very quiet and cannot hear any traffic noise. The room is spacious and is very clean. There is an outdoor terrace restaurant facing the lake where you can have breakfast, tea, drink and dinner. It is just wonderfully relaxing. There is a spa with sauna and resting chairs by the lake and you can even swim there. There is no swimming pool. The service, breakfast, dinners are excellent. There are great walks nearby and driving to other beautiful spots or lakes are very easy and quick. We really feel relaxed and happy for the whole week. Highly recommended.

The hostess, Gabriele, is very responsive and helpful. She was kind enough to help me call a taxi (the taxi driver is also very kind and helpful) from the train station to the property. The check-in was easy and quick. Gabriele gave us very useful tips to explore Hallstatt, such as taking the small local boat. With the guest card there, we enjoyed a little discount for experiences like the salt mining one. The property was very clean, tidy and well furnished. The environment was cozy and quiet. My sister and I missed so much the big big stars we saw at the balcony there. My family had a wonderful stay there and we would like to thank Gabriele, and her beautiful daughter once again, for bringing us such a warm and homely stay plus a rarely found four-leaf clover. We wish we could stay longer. That’s a property you would not regret choosing!
When I was considering to book a room in this hotel, I was in doubt about it because of some negative reviews that I read. Nevertheless, I decided to book even so, and my experience there was GREAT. I, respectfully, think that many negative comments here are unfair, as I’m going to explain while I give my perceptions about the hotel. Overview: Obertraun is a small city (approx. 800 people). The hotel is in front of the lake with a wonderful view. It provides a very helpful free bus pass to the region (Hallstatt etc). The owner is very helpful and kind. It’s a family business run with much care and respect for the guest. Check in: excellent. The time for check in is between 15:00-19:00. The management of the hotel emailed me telling me this and asking me to tell in advance if I would arrive after 19:00 because they would put the keys in a place where I could pick it. I arrived early, and I saw in the entrance of the hotel a key locker where the late guests can just put a code and pick the key. Moreover, when I booked the room in Expedia, there was also a warning about the time to check in. Therefore, it’s just a matter of the guest pay attention and contact in advance. Mr. Meinrad was very kind and attentive in the check in. Staff: I really don’t understand those who complained. The owner of the hotel is extremely kind and helpful. He was always very patient to help to advise the best places to go in the area. His wife was also very kind. It’s very clear how much they care for the hotel and do their best to receive well the guests. I think that guests also need to analyses themselves before complaining about small things and make a storm in a teacup. Location: the hotel is located in Obertraun which is a neighbor city of Hallstatt. It’s very easy to go to Hallstatt from there, and the hotel provides you free public transport in the region (bus). It is also located in front of the lake and the view is gorgeous! Bear in mind that Obertraun has approximately 800 inhabitants, so don’t go expecting to have a coffee in Starbucks etc. Even though, once again, Mr. Meinrad, very kindly, offered to prepare a coffee in the evening while he was there. There is a restaurant (I think the whole city only has two or three) near the hotel. Breakfast: with all do respect, I think some guests when travel become “breakfast Master chefs”. I always say, is the breakfast better or worst compared to the one that you have in your house? The breakfast was good! Juice, coffee, cappuccino, bread, cheese, ham, yogurt etc. If you want to have a five stars Michelin breakfast you need to be willing to pay for that. In this sense, I didn’t have any problem with the breakfast and the restaurant also has a great view of the lake and the mountains. Room: I stayed in a room with a view to the lake. I read that some other for single doesn’t have private bathroom, but it is told on the website. In my case, the room was cozy, and I liked the bed as well. The bathroom had everything ne
This resort hotel is impeccable except that it is inconvenient for the elderly to go upstairs without an elevator.
I deliberately contacted Ctrip one week in advance to apply for a room on the ground floor for my 80-year-old parents, but after arriving at the front desk, I was told that I had not received any notice. The parents were very anxious and didn't know how to go upstairs.
Fortunately, the hotel owner was reasonable and took care of the elderly and upgraded my parents to a superior suite, which solved this problem.
