The hotel charged my credit card at reservation oct 10 for the full amount of 3 nights via **********. . But, on check in on oct 25 the hostal insisted on taking my credit card to charge the full amount a second time. They could not answer my questions if this was merely a hold or a second charge. I don't know if i will have to struggle with credit card or **********

As per the hotels description there was an in-room safe. There was no safe.
It was boiling hot in the room. We asked different staff at reception to check the AC and got the standard answer that the city requires the AC to stay at 27 degrees. Finally, we investigated ourselves and noticed that many of the vents were closed.This issue could have easily been sorted if anyone had to just come and take a look at the AC.
We requested no housekeeping and maintained the room ourselves for the 5 days we were there. On the last day we asked if we could check out half an hour later as we would be too early for our flight, and received a rude NO. After a 4 night stay, half an hour is not a lot to ask.
I have to give credit to the man who works at the Breakfast area. He was amazing. Quick,efficient and very polite.

Small room, but not too small. The standard was slightly better than what you might think of a two star hotel. Breakfast was ok, and the staff really friendly. The young receptionist was a great guide!

This property is right on Las Ramblas. Our room faced the action! We had to leave at 3am for a flight and the staff made breakfast available for us even at that early time. Highly recommend!

This hostel is exactly as advertised. You need to walk up 2 flights of stairs. Desk staff were excellent. Room small but very clean and adequate. There was a slight smell coming from shower drain which is in close proximity to head of bed. Drain smell does seem to be an issue in Barcelona. The breakfast was fantastic. Lots of healthy choices and “goodies”.

Enjoyed a basic but perfect night at the Hostal Mare Nostrum. Location was perfect, staff were super friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious and provided early for us due to our early check out.
Can’t beat it if you want a friendly, clean, no frills stay on Las Ramblas!
