My family and I thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night stay at Asanja in the Moru region of the Serengeti. Our guide and driver, Sharif, picked us up from Arusha to bring us to camp. Once we arrived in the evening, we were greeted with a cozy campfire and a delicious buffet style dinner under the stars. It does get quite cold at night and we were a bit unprepared, but the staff were kind enough to provide blankets for my nieces who were feeling chilly. Each day, we had a variety of foods that always accommodated the dietary preferences of those in our party. The days that we were out all day, we were provided a healthy, well-rounded packed lunch to eat on the road. The meals at camp though were really remarkable. We also enjoyed unlimited access to tea and coffee. The tent we were assigned was very large with a living room and two bedrooms with attached bathrooms that was able to accommodate all 7 of us. Since the camp location was pretty remote, we were even able to hear a lion’s roar on our first night. As for the safari, we really appreciated Sharif as he was very kind and knowledgeable, educating us on the animals in the park as well as Masai traditions and monuments - his passion and enthusiasm really showed. We were able to see elephants, giraffe, lions, wildebeest, impala, warthogs, rhino, and lots of zebras! We went for a sunrise drive on our second day and enjoyed breakfast set up at Jiwe la Chapati with a great view overlooking the park. Asanja went above and behind in providing excellent service throughout the duration of our stay. Although we were sad to leave, our send off included beautiful song and dance from the staff. They also made it easy to continue our journey in Tanzania by driving us to Kilimanjaro Airport and booking our flight and hotel for our next stop, Zanzibar. All around, it was a wonderful experience!
