Premier Inn Basildon (East Mayne)

Clean, friendly hotel centred in the middle of Basildon. Good facilities, good staff and nice, relaxed a**osphere.

Our 1st and last ever stay here it looked ok peaceful surroundings outside but when we entered our room/cupboard number 1 what a shock normally primer Inn rooms are all much the same large bed sofa Not this one we had book the room 18/5/24 so that we could get ready for a celebration 70th birthday party but in room 1 only one person could get ready at a time the other had to sit on the bed or go outside No room to stand by the side's or at the bottom of the bed to get dressed only seat was a dirty stained dinning chair The only good thing was the bathroom was so small there was no room for a bath so we had a walk in shower with the towel rail hanging off the wall The bed was a double and that just fitted in And we got this all for a bargain price of £91 that's if you haven't got a car like we have then you have to pay £5 per night just to park in the carpark I think £96 per night for room only in Basildon in a box room is terrible we couldn't wait to leave and was thankful that we only spent a few hours in this cupboard

The cue to check in wa sober 15 mins, the lady didn’t have a clue what she was doing. No netlfix wifi was so slow. I didn’t enjoy my break and neither did my partner.

Beds are comfy but getting a shower is awful. Trying to climb over the bath side at my age was really difficult and potentially dangerous. They now charge £5 per night for parking what a rip off. The beefeater next door - the bar area is filthy and it closes at 10 most night earlier on Sunday. Seems to cater for the local drunks. The food - cooked breakfast was served mostly cold and the fried eggs looked like they had been nuked. We had 1 evening meal, mine was cold.

Hdmi lead was loose, normally these hotels have a little hub to plug things in. This didn't instead it had a hdmi lead petruding out of a hole. Lamp was missing a switch. Toilet seats need changing as it's clear they've had years of yes. Carpets are bobbley and need replacing.

Arrived early & were greeted by such lovely friendly staff, our room was fine, bed very comfy & slept very well, TV is a bit dodgy to work. The power button only turns it off, we discovered... also, consider eating elsewhere to the beefeater next door, we had to send cold food back & although we got money off our bill, we weren't impressed. Hotel is excellent though!

A pleasant enough stay, and the Premier Inn staff are nice, but it’s a shame that the food provision is via the Beefeater next door – its an adult creche for day time drinkers, the food options are limited and often don’t taste nice, the older male staff would clearly rather be the other side of the bar than the serving side, and the rest of the staff are confused, stretched, or just not on top of things.

A great stay with welcoming and accommodating staff. It is conveniently located for what we needed and the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. If we come back to the area then we will definitely consider staying again.

Poor communication between staff resulted in rooms not being available when we arrived, staff openly blaming poor communication on collegues as the excuse, 45 min delay to get to one room then 2nd room not ready for a further 40 mins, resulted in 4 adults sharing one room to get ready for a wedding after a 4 hour car journey. this is unacceptable as there wasnt even enough towels for everyone to shower. once the rooms were finally ready Check in took over 25 mins as the staff were unable to work the computer system and were openly moaning and complaining to myself about how it doesnt work and how they cant use it! Room also smelt heavily of bleach. breakfast was awful, the breakfast area was extremally dirty, bread and pastries were stale and hard, when I complained to the server I was told that was because they had been left out overnight uncovered, the area where you help yourself was filthy and all of the surfaces were unclean, there was no juice in the dispenser's and despite asking 3 times for them to be refilled this didnt happen. When we returned to our rooms after breakfast at 9.30am my daughter wasnt able to access her room as the cleaners had entered and started to clean it even though we hadnt yet checked out and my daughter had her photographic equipment in the room at this time, this is completely unacceptable, when we raised this with reception the just said it was normal practice by the cleaners as sometimes people forget to check out so the cleaners will enter the rooms?!
