Me, my husband and daughter stayed only 1 night so we could catch the ferry to Amalfi. We arrived at midnight and got in easily and staff was friendly and polite. Room was clean, air conditioning worked great. Beds were a bit hard but we were exhausted and slept well. When arriving, the street was still active and loud so I was pleasantly surprised that once in the room I could hear no outside noise. It was walkable to the ferry and a cool mainstreet. If we had more time, nice shopping and walk to the water. Breakfast was efficient and typical Italin fare.

Hotel Olimpico is a lovely hotel and spotlessly clean inside and out AND the rooms are cleaned every day ; good breakfast selection ; pool bar and has a great pool area where you can also order food. The reception ladies are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The bar staff Davide, Sergio, Michel & Daniel ( sorry if I missed anyone) were brilliant ! Very welcoming and again nothing was too much trouble for them, whether you have 1 or several drinks they are all great barman and an asset to the hotel ! The location was a bit out of the way for us but there was a free shuttle which was a god send as it was 50 euros each way in a taxi to the port in Salerno. The area itself is run down with bars and restaurants along the front either closed, boarded up or derelict so we were quite relieved when the taxi drew up in front of the hotel but a bit disappointed not to be able to have a walk along to a bar or restaurant outside of the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean but a bit drab and colourless. Sadly we were directly above the kitchen area so we were woken daily very early by the noise of the metal ramp being used to ferry food to the restaurant for breakfast (I presume) and the air conditioning didn't work although I did report this. We stayed here for 8 days for my husbands 50th birthday with friends and for the most part our experience was a good one. First night we ate in the restaurant just the 2 of us and felt the manager was a bit off and sharp but didn't take too much notice. Our friends arrived the next day and a few days later after a long day out we decided to eat in the restaurant and assured them the food was good based on our first meal. However, 11 of my mussels did not open which was over half my starter and our friend['s starters of grilled cheese and vegetables were cold. My main meal came out and the chicken was pink & raw but after sending it back and it still wasn't cooked I decided to leave it. Our friend ordered steak medium but it was raw when it came out. Not wanting to send food back again he ate the edges and left the rest. The blonde waitress couldn't raise a smile, literally threw our food at us and had no table manners at all and the manager and his sidekick with the glasses did not at any time come to our table to enquire if there was a problem nor offer a solution - they just raised their eyebrows, muttered under their breath nodding towards our table and completely ignored us ! Only the nice young waiter (didn't get his name) who took my food back was so apologetic but apart from that they weren't interested in our table at all and made it quite clear they did not care. When we paid he begrudgingly knocked off my meal and 1 steak meal but this wasn't the issue. The issue was their attitude towards us was disgraceful ! As paying customers you expect to be treated with courtesy and if you are unable to do this then you should not be in hospitality so for the rest of our stay we did not eat

The hotel was very comfortable and was very clean and was very close to the centre and we had no public funding. If you have luck you are free parking under the stable ( we found it). Otherwise, the lady recommends a parking at 4/5 euro per day. The area has many stores and supermarkets right on the stable road. The bar under the palace is convenient to make breakfast. Perfectly I would say. The only things I don't put 5 stars because the room is too cold. The air conditioners to heat the room take a lot to heat the environment and the bathroom is cold because it is not heated, also I had problems with the hot water of the shower after 3 Min I found to do the cold shower . After 15 Min, however, it was divided into the cold of the room the cold of the shower was a huge discomfort, which is why my companion had to do the shower the next day. Finally, cmq is a apartment divided in b&b so not suitable for those who do not tolerate the minimum noise.. for me it was not a problem.

Positives 1. Parking for the apartments is right next to the apartments. 2. There is a decent sized swimming pool that we had access to next to the apartment so we didn’t need to use the bigger pool that was used for weddings. 4. The pool we used was a 1 minute walk from the apartment and wasn’t busy. 5. The bedroom was of a good size. 6. The kitchenette was functional. 7. It was possible to wash our baby in the bathroom, although tight the shower was big enough to put our travel inflatable baby bath in the base. 8. Beach was very nice as long as you sat in the 3rd row of chairs it was free. 9. The smell of eucalyptus trees on the way to the beach was nice. 10. The sea was a 10 minute walk, even with the baby and the heat it was easy to do and didn’t use the shuttle bus once. 11. Local shops are limited but good enough. (Didn’t find any baby formula though) 12. The staff were as accommodating with questions as my no Italian and their broken English allowed. 13. They let us settle our bill the night before we left as we were leaving early and they said there would only be a skeleton staff. 14. Using toll roads it’s only about 1 and half hours from Naples airport. (Don’t leave “avoid tolls” on like I did initially as that drive wasn’t fun and took and extra hour) 15. Toll was €2.10, I used cards and this worked every time although the transaction on a Sunday didn’t appear on my statement for 2 days, all other days the toll came off the card immediately. 16. We used the big pool in the photos once. It was nice and the baby liked it on a day when there weren’t any weddings. 17. Paestum really was very close and fully worth a visit. 18. Pompeii was only about an hour away with a €2.10 toll each way. 19. Decent safe in the bedroom, could fit my 13” laptop. 20. Hair dryer in bathroom was ok. Negatives 1. The large pool was closed for weddings between 12:30 and 15:30 and not cleaning as we had been told. 2. We weren’t disrupted by the weddings but they were every day from what a guest staying in the main hotel said. 3. No kettle in the apartment. 4. No iron in the apartment. 5. Massive sink in a small bathroom was a bit odd. 6. The shower, glass door runner always jammed and had clearly been “repaired” at some point. The kitchen tap and the shower water are connected so don’t use them both at the same time or the temperature gets very severely affected. 7. The apartment only had a single free bed linen change which did not include a room clean. 8. There was a €40 charge to clean the room which included towels and bed linen change 9. The AC only went down to 21° 10. The large AC unit outside between the apartments and the car park was very noisy and could be heard in the apartment at night. 11. Reception staff had better English than I have Italian, not really a bad point but a bit difficult as I have no Italian. I used google translate a lot. 12. Breakfast was very limited. Ottima accoglienza, chiara spiegazione delle attività. Locali puliti e ben tenuti. Personale gentile, competente e non invadente. Abbiamo usufruito anche di una trattamento per il viso e abbiamo sentito la differenza. Il relax si è sentito eccome e ce lo siamo portati fino a casa. Plauso alle temperature nei vari ambienti: perfette sempre, aspetto da non sottovalutare. Straconsigliato per l’ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.
