Crazy Bear Beaconsfield

Would be nice to have tea & coffee facilities in the room. Well that’s it, the worst part over. My NEW husband & I celebrated our marriage that day at the Crazy Bear with our 2 best friends (witnesses ). Having read the reviews I was a quite worried, but we had the best time. Decor is quirky and opulently OTT but you know that if you visit the web site and it amused us. We dined in the English Restaurant, the food was fabulous and no complaints with the service. Every member of staff was pleasant, helpful and attentive. Makes you wonder what the people are like that complain!? It is expensive, and that May set expectations for some extremely high, but you can stay in a travel lodge if you’d rather. It was a special day for us and our stay at the Crqzy Bear Beaconsfield helped make it more special. Thanks Crazy Bear.

Room was fabulous a converted loft seemed very fitting as I convert lofts as my business never seen one like this before though very decadent ..I have to mention tho as it was £500 a night and stayed 2 nights it’s looking a little jaded needs a bit of tlc the sink tap was hanging off the copper sink and bath scratched and tarnished bad needs a re lacquer ..soon as we walked in my missus seen cobwebs and dust hanging off the light fittings ..I may be being picky but at the cost you don’t want anything to complain about ..also thought they may have thrown breakfast in at that price but we had to pay £60 for an average breakfast.. we dined English first night menu quite limited and a few dishes weren’t available food was average one thing that crates me if your making a thing out of putting all the wine in a big ice bucket make sure your checking everyone sat there 10 min with empty glasses! had to get up and get it ourselves ..they did knock it off the bill tho which was a plus ..we were booked in the Thai second night but cancelled went a lovely Indian on the high st spice merchant highly recommend.. all in all a lovely hotel but needs a re vamp badly tree planters outside all rotting away ..read a lot of reviews and it seems to get slated I can say tho the staff were lovely Rant over haha Kieron

I have never experienced such a terrible service, went there for birthday drinks waited over an hour. When the drinks came 4 out of 6 were incorrect waited another 30 minutes for the correct drinks but still wasn’t right. When we asked for a refund that was another hour. The attitude of the member of staff was terrible and as for the manager Mark he is so condescending and arrogant he should not be in a customer environment as he clearly hasn’t got a clue. I would never go back to that establishment.

We was had a reservation for the 31st May, we had a voucher that my Mother-in Law had got us for Christmas - deluxe room, champagne on arrival, a three course meal etc. ... Sounded lovely. However another family member had been gifted the same and stayed at the hotel in April. They said it was shocking and advised us not to go (I looked at the reviews on Trip advisor and there was a lot saying exactly the same as my nephew) So I tried to contact the hotel to discuss the concerns I had by phone and no one answered, I emailed, received an email saying someone would contact me, no one did I sent further emails (13 in total) and called numerous times, the manager finally emailed back asking for my number so they could call and discuss (although I had sent my number previously) I still have not heard from the manager and have since sent numerous emails & called, but no response. We did not go to the hotel on the 31st, but had emails saying thanks for checking in, hope we had a good stay & the following day a email thanking us for checking out. The restaurant called on Friday evening to see if we still wanted our table I explained the situation and was told someone would call me back - which they didn't obviously. This booking had been pre-paid by my Mother-In-Law, the Crazy Bear management team obviously doesn't care as the lack of customer care I have received is non existent. Extremely frustrating

We had a very pleasant stay at Crazy Bear, Beaconsfield. Most of the staff were extremely friendly & helpful, but not everyone. Two of the concierge team (Martha & Nicole) went the extra distance for us during our stay & should be commended for their efforts. Our weekend started with me receiving a two hour Thai massage (which was excellent) whilst my wife made herself comfortable in the lounge area, although she was made to feel quite unwelcome their as she was asked to not sit in specific places because of a wedding event which didn’t even arrive until several hours afterwards. The food at the Thai restaurant was exquisite. We dined here for dinner & I personally couldn’t fault it. The presentation, the flavours, the service were all incredible & that was definitely the highlight of our stay. The food in the English restaurant seemed a little expensive which forced us to only share a few starters when we dined for lunch. The lounge area & pool was clean & tidy. The temperature of the pool was perfect even when making use of it on an unusually chilly May weekend. The prices of the drinks meant I only really drank beer & at £6 for a 330ml bottle of Asahi even that started adding up. The room we stayed in was across the road from the venue. It was a very lush design & we loved the decor. There was even a TV that came out of the end of the bed but sadly we were unable to stream anything to it even after concierge had a look at it to see why it wasn’t working. We both slept very well in an extremely comfortable bed. Would I stay there again? Probably but I’d have to keep an eye out for deals on Groupon. Even though my wife bought the weekend stay as a birthday treat I still ended up spending over £100 on top of what my wife had paid for the meal in the Thai restaurant, the massages & the one night stay at the hotel.

Good Morning Unfortunately, I am writing to complain about my experience at your Beaconsfield restaurant on Saturday 25th May 2024. I purchased a Groupon Voucher to treat my Aunt for her 65th Birthday. I booked to attend your Beaconsfield restaurant for a 12 course Thai menu for 2.30pm. We were held up in traffic and I called ahead and explained this to a colleague that we would be 20 minutes late, the lady said that was fine she would be able to hold the table. When we arrived at the restaurant and explained what we were there for they said oh that's not here, you need to go 7 doors down. We struggled to find the right place and I ended up going round the back of the properties where someone then showed me the correct door to use. The door was shut and it wasn't clear that this property was part of the crazy bear group. A lady then asked if she could help us and I explained why we were there and she said oh, our chefs have gone home now, they finish at 3pm. I was confused as i had spoken to a colleague at the other restaurant who said they would save the table and it wasn't an issue, i said to the lady, but i've had this booked, why would you allow me to book a table for 2.30pm, allowing us a 2 hour time slot, if your chefs finish at 3pm? she said she couldn't help. she said well, i can see if you can eat in the other restaurant, but we had booked for the thai 12 course menu. Myself and my Aunt, obviously disappointed having driven an hour to get to Beaconsfield from Oxford and then to be left without a booking, decided to have a coffee in the cafe next door whilst we figured out what else we could do, imagine my shock when that lady then proceeded to have a 'moan' about myself and my aunt to her colleague, IN FRONT OF US! to be discussed within earshot, left me shocked. I waved at her and said erm, excuse me i am still sitting right here! to which she replied, oh i wasn't talking about you. I have never been made to feel so embarrassed and belittled, the way your employee spoke to us and dealt with the situation was not satisfactory at all. I have eaten at your Stadhampton restaurant many times for special family events, and to be quite frank, if this is how much you value your customers, I won't bother again. I look forward to receiving your reply regarding this matter. and your suggestions for any resolution. In Anticipation Joanne I had sent this email and have had from response back from them.

The stay was supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable for my mums 50th birthday yet it has caused nothing but disappointment and stress. When we arrived we were greeted, rooms are named different on website to groupon etc. Room was dirty, I will attach pictures dusty mirrors, blinds and rug was filthy! . Then I had a call to say they missed the champagne and if we could go and collect them when we were ready. When paying 300+ for a room and dinner you expect good service and high quality. I collected drinks and told them about the naming of room to which I was told the manager has now changed it on the website and does not match via groupon or wowcher (false advertisement). We left the room as we thought we will go for a nice dinner, drinks etc. Got to the restaurant to which starters came first, I asked twice for drinks. Only 2 members of staff in restaurant you could clearly see they were understaffed lots of other people asking for drinks or starters to be taken etc. starters came, duck was like sausage meat almost blended? Squid gritty and inedible… not what you expect for a dinner that is supposed to be worth £100 as it states on groupon. Then asked for another round of drinks, which again I had to order twice. Then a lovely waitress who was called on upstairs as so understaffed dealt with our bill. We were charged for lobster and one round of drinks. We did not even eat our main as it was poor quality and not what you expect from a hotel / restaurant that you pay a lot for a one night stay! When I asked if management had changed since I last visited I was replied to with yes, and it’s very obvious! I came in 2021 with my partner, had a lovely time. I bumped into a lady leaving the restaurant who told me she was a manager there too, I told her about the meal etc to which I had barely any response to. Also during the meal I told the waiter downstairs that the tap wasn't working in ladies to wash hands I had a very short and blunt reply, no customer service skills to show me where I could was my hands, bearing in mind I'm in a restaurant eating food! After we went to pool for drinks, we sat roughly for 30 mins if not longer waiting for table service which we were told on arrival, as I've been before the service was fast and great last time when visiting. This time no one showed! We went back to our hotel room instead as absolutely appalled with the whole stay. It was my mums special treat, we travelled 2 hrs to get there to have a shocking time. No one even mentioned her birthday even though it was in the notes for restaurant booking on special occasion. Overall it was a bad combination of unclean room, false advertisement, poor / no customer service and bad quality food. DO NOT GO, asked for refund no one has called me back which was promised, now calling today and no one answering the main landline. I wonder if they are going under?!?!

Had dinner with family on a Saturday evening. Thought we would have a drink outside first. This took ages to arrive and the first guy we asked responded like it was almost an inconvenience. Food was good. Service was good. We were told there was no rush for our table as no-one booked after us, but later we were told the restaurant was closing and would we like to vacate to the bar. As we had finished our meal, we chose to leave. Little atmosphere in the restaurant due to lack of diners.

Booked for my husbands birthday the hotel is extraordinary and a lot of hard work and money has gone into it, it is just a shame it was let down by the cleanliness cob webs and dusty room,if your going to have mirrors everywhere they need to be cleaned, no complimentary kettle or condiments in our room so not able to wake up and have a coffee. (The only hotel I’ve ever been in that doesn’t have a kettle in the room!) brought a package deal and didn't get the champagne and when asked at the Thai restaurants they said we should have received on arrival and we couldn’t have with dinner. Received starter before drinks, then just as we finished dinner the waitress said we need to leave due to table booked, we were in and out within 1 hour. The price of drinks in hotel was very expensive however delicious. We were in suite 48 and no where for us ladies to get ready requires a dressing table in the room as big enough. Also no toilet door in room only a curtain which was beautiful but not ideal if your husband wants to have a morning poop. Tables service terrible, cold coffee served, the bacon was like plastic. Seemed like hotel was run by young inexperienced staff with no guidance. We did have a lovely stay it just a shame that these few things let it down. Probably wouldn’t go back as we travelled quite far and was disappointed. If you have a special occasion don’t bother telling them in the booking as they don’t acknowledge it .
