Khamkirri

Very nice camping site, like the deck area with sprinklers Very nice bar and kitchen facilities Nice new bath rooms Very nice cleaning sinks for cleaning of pots etc.

We stayed there only for a night on our way home from vacation. The reception was friendly and cabin was beautiful with a view of the river!

What a little gem!you actually need 3 nights or more to experience it properly. Phillips and staff are just so friendly and helpful, and the scenery is amazing. Lovely little trail/mtb route, and cabins were super comfortable. The river is magic.

This was our second visit to Khamkirri, the previous one being four years ago just after Covid. Management kindly and without hesitation accommodated our requests to reschedule our booking from Sept '24 to Dec '24 due to personal reasons. We were warmly welcomed by a friendly team being the lodge manager, Ruan and the lodge owner, Phillipa. The self-catering cabin was clean and well equipped as always, and cleaning staff was available daily. We had a wonderful 5 nights stay and the beauty and tranquillity of the area was exactly what we needed to unwind from the busy city life. This time around we opted to do activities at the lodge which included strolling around the area, a rowing session on the mighty Orange river and a relaxing sundowner boat cruise. Some nights we treated ourselves to sundowner snacks and cocktails on the lodge lounge deck, offering breathtaking views of the Orange river. Other nights we braaied on our cabin deck whilst savoring the beauty of nature and the tranquility it brings. In a fast-paced world that often leaves us yearning for more, Khamkirri invites you to pause, to appreciate, and to fully immerse yourselves in the life’s most precious moments, so when you leave Khamkirri, you leave with deep fulfillment and joy, and your body and soul is rested. We had the most wonderful time at Khamkirri. We loved camping next to beautiful Orange River. What made our stay of 8 days more amazing is the incredible host; Rowan and Philippa and their entire team. We had sundowners and dinner at the restaurant, food is excellent. Thank you Rowan and Philippa for making Phil's Birthday cake. he says its the best cake he had in a long time. We be sure to come back. Thank you and Truly All the Best! Lee

We stayed at Khamkirri as part of a wedding anniversary trip. It is lovely to be right on the Orange River and the cabins are comfortable. The camp site looked really nice too with good shade and grass. When I booked to stay there I had mentioned that I wanted to do some cool outings for our wedding anniversary and Phillipa made some great suggestions that we could book on arrival. When we arrived I did not meet Phillipa and I asked a number of times if we could find out about the trips that she had suggested and no one ever got back to me. One of the things we wanted to do was a trip to Riemvasmaak. Over email she had said that it is not accessible without a 4 x 4 and quoted quite an unreasonable amount to be taken there. After not having any success with feedback about doing said trip, we decided to just see how far we got ourselves in our VW Golf. We got all the way to the hot springs and it was fine (albeit a little dodgy on the last stretch) so we didn't need them afterall. While the actual venue is nice the welcome and service is lacking. We wouldn't go back.
