The good stuff: Very hard-worked, but friendly staff who were very helpful. Nice breakfasts and good evening meals in the restaurant. Clean room, with new fresh towels each day. The bad stuff: Our ‘quiet’ room, Room 9, turned out to be the ‘quirky’ room at the top which has 3 steps down into the room and three steps up into the bathroom. The eaves are so low over one side of the bed that I had to either bend right over and sidle along the side of the bed or crawl into bed. We’re both retired, so not the best scenario, nor for accessing the bathroom during the night. Also the room was very hot on both nights, about 26C in September, so we had to open the little window as well as we could. The second evening there was very loud live music coming from next door, so one of the rooms on the High Street side of the hotel would’ve been a much quieter option. I would’ve taken all the bad stuff on the chin had we got our room on some sort of discount, but we paid the full £120 per night with breakfast through Booking.com. We had a lovely weekend seeing places in the area, but unfortunately our hotel room was the only fly in the ointment - disappointing.
