The room was hot and humid when we checked in. Used the remote control to turn on the split unit air conditioner, using highest fan speed and lowest temperature setting. Two hours later, the air was still uncomfortably warm and close. We called administration for service (there are no staff on the premises, this is a contactless hotel) and were told they would send someone. Three hours later, after we returned from dinner, we called again. An hour later, still no service. It began to rain and we opened the window to get some relief so we could sleep (by this time it was nearly 11:00. At 8:00 in the morning, there was a knock at the door, the service person. Of course, after the cool night air the room was comfortable, so the service man decided that there was no problem with the a/c. We left the room with all lights out and shutters closed against the sun. Returned three hours later to a stifling room. Called again for service. He comes back, says the thermostat is set to 16 C, what is the problem. He didn't have a thermometer with him to check the actual air temperature against the set temperature, and argued with us that it was working and what more did we want. The administration operator was rude to us about our numerous requests to correct the situation. We finally booked a hotel a few blocks away and left this awful place. And the air conditioner is perfectly comfortable here at a set point of 18 C.
