Because self-driving choose here is mainly free parking, parking fees in Australian hotels are more expensive. Arrived early in the morning. As a result, there was no one at the front desk, so I had to go to the nearby shopping mall for lunch and then come back to check in. The old lady was very nice and gave a small can of fresh milk for the in-house guests to make coffee. You can leave after returning. There are many locals staying, but for Chinese guests, it may not be able to adapt to such a simple hotel. If you just want to be clean, spend a night, and not picky, you can choose, after all, the price is affordable!

I spent 2 nights at Edge apar**ents last week while in Rockhampton. Check in was quick and friendly, and I was advised to park anywhere available in the carpark. Going into the carpark, there was nothing available and I ended up parking on the street. On the second night, again I drove through the car park but there were no spaces available, so also ended up parking on the street. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. A reverse cycle air conditioner was included, and there was a fridge, sink and microwave in the room. Wifi is provided free of charge and it works. The room was incredibly hot when I arrived at it, but after an hour the aircon had worked and cooled it down. There is an Indian restaurant and bar on the ground floor, which I highly recommend. Excellent food. It is a short walk to the shopping centre, and there is a river nearby which is good for walking along. As a big benefit, the Edge does not charge any surcharge of paying by credit card. Hotels have been one of the most bullish industries in applying surcharges, despite enjoying more benefits than other industries (booking guarantees, pre-authorisations, charging for no-shows, charging for late charges, avoiding large cash transactions), so it was VERY welcome that the quoted price at Edge is the actual price that you pay without a surcharge. I would happily stay here again for a short stay in Rockhampton (but bear in mind the lack of parking).

We booked the family room. It was well priced for what we got. Shame the doors don’t line up properly but everyone near us had the same issue. Easy fix maintenance issue but. Beds doubled as a lounge but it meant you can watch tv in bed which a lot of hotels don’t offer TVs in the bed rooms. I presume that’s the difference between a hotel and motel as we don’t normally stay in motels. Nice to cuddle up and watch a movie when the kids go to bed. Didn’t like that the centre door auto locked and only 1 key. Made it hard if the kids wanted to come in during the night. There was a second privacy door but it does not close properly. The second bed in each room came in handy for the younger one. The check in staff were great and knowledgeable. They were down to earth and not “snobbish”. We didn’t feel like we were annoying them asking questions about activities. Loved having the back entrance since the front is so narrow and the same car was parked there during our visit so no way out. It is right on the river and localised so we walked to most things. Shops, breakfast, dinner etc. we only drove to the activities, zoo, museum etc. Take bug spray, we got eaten alive but that’s no fault of the venue, it’s just the location. They were fully booked but we still felt like the only ones there and always had exclusive use of the pool and outdoor area. May be different when it warms up but the kids loved it. If we return to rocky for another short stay we would return to motel 98. The only think I do not recommend is eating at skyring (their restaurant) unless you want to starve. 20kg 9yr old girl ate the $53 steak meal and was still hungry but I’ll leave the full review for their page. Only reason for a 4 not a 5 was the food and no local “what around” booklets like most places have had. Free wifi slow (can’t watch movies on it) but allowed us to google more local attractions. Thanks for a great stay guys.

Both the lady who checked me in and the other staff member there at thebtime seemed utterly baffled and even suspicious that I was not familiar with the area and had basic questions about nearby ammenties (supermarkets Etc). There is no 'way to indicate 'do not disturb' which lead to staff coming into the cabin to clean while I was asleep in the room. We both got quite a fright! No harm done, but very easily avoidable especially for week long stays in self catering rooms which you would not expect to receive cleaning service until you check out.

🧹 Health: First of all, health really needs to be strengthened. We stayed at night. There was no 24h front desk. Unidentified stains were found on the sheets. I could sleep on the other side at night. 🚗 Traffic: It's all driving here, but at least explain how to check in and parking on the reservation email. The hotel is on the roadside. If you don't have a room card, you can't enter the garage. When you check in, the car can't stop and help the road. There are several parking spaces on the roadside are full. Finally, you can put a person off the bus to check in, and the driver circled.
