Beautiful high-end hotel. I greatly regretted booking only 3 nights here and 4 at the Mercure Sibiui. This hotel was a very tough act to follow. This hotel is immaculately clean. For example, I was impressed to see staff mopping the exterior dining patio one morning. Everything seems very well-maintained. Our room was huge. We appreciated the ability to open our windows all the way for fresh air. The bed was uber comfortable with fluffy fresh pillows. The king bed had 4 large pillows. NOT feather pillows, a huge benefit for travelers with allergies. I travel frequently and it’s shocking how many hotels continue to use feather pillows, which deflate quickly to a flat uncomfortable allergy-inducing pancake. I was impressed that the sheets stayed tidy and didn’t come loose as almost always happens at hotels. Breakfast was a huge spread of high-quality offerings. I enjoyed the unique items like red pepper spread and hummus. No dry over-cooked buffet eggs here! The sunny-side up eggs were especially good. The bacon was the usual European-style disappointment of soggy and not crispy but this is always the case at European hotels. The jam was homemade and very low-sugar, for those who appreciate minimal sweetness. They had 2 coffee machines! A rarity that prevented the usual wait at breakfast buffet coffee machines. We also adored the fact that the entire dining room was open for seating. So often only a portion of a restaurant’s seating is made available. This fact ensured that guests could spread out and no be forced to sit in a tight space right on top of each other. For those of us who enjoy peace and tranquility in our mornings, this was delightful. Staff was well-trained, providing excellent but unobtrusive service. It was lovely not to have our conversations interrupted or have staff flitting amongst tables. Other high-end hotels need to come here to learn how things should be done. There are 3 elevators which ensured there was never a significant wait. The location is phenomenal. It’s right on the road to Prejmer and Harmon Fortified Churches. It is directly across from a large mall with a grocery store, pharmacy, 2 banks, food court and various stores. The area seems new and fresh. There is a McDonalds close by but it was terrible. The negatives, though far overshadowed by the positives, are the design of the shower and the restaurant menu. There is no glass partition in the shower/tub thus water goes everywhere when showering. The lunch/dinner/room service menu is sophisticated to a fault. While this is a positive for foodies sometimes one just wants a casual meal of comfort food. They do have burgers on the menu but I wish they had a few more simple items, for example, perhaps lasagna, tomato bisque, a sandwich… I heartily recommend this world-class high-end hotel.
