Afternoon Tea. Staff lacked any enthusiasm, took ages to be served and when the afternoon tea arrived well! Scones, cheese scones clearly bought from Morrisons down the road (menu said home made), sausage roll could have come from Greggs, the sandwiches were dry and only had a thin slither of wafer thin ham and the mini cakes were not too bad. The staff member delivered the food and didn’t return for ages, another customer seemed to help themselves. As there was a Spa and gym next door, half dressed customers appeared in the cafe, not what I want to see whilst have afternoon tea. The website lies! Avoid this place at all costs.

When you book a Manor House you expect Manor House. Not a cheap hotel with no food or bar! We arrived at 3pm. Check in at the leisure club of the Manor House. We wanted a bite to eat, headed to the garden bar. They don’t serve food. Although the waitress said she could make us a sandwich but no menu. Our room was lovely with the poster bed and bath. The radiators were warm ish. Couldn’t just the temperature of the radiator though. Breakfast was awful, was included in our stay. Breakfast was from 8am so arrived just after. Not all hot food was out. It took half hour for all the items for a cooked breakfast to arrive. The sausages were cheap and mushy, along with undercooked hash browns. Tables weren’t set, had to collect cutlery and napkins. There doesn’t seem to be enough tables for everyone. The seating arrangements has quite a few low tables which isn’t suitable for eating at all. We wanted to grab a taxi to a local pub for some drinks and food, don’t even think about it! We just couldn’t get a taxi as they were all booked up!! All the 8 taxi numbers and we couldn’t get anyone to take us. So we drove in the end. The spa is quite poor, steam room has been painted recently and the floor is covered in paint flecks not much steam in there at all, spa bath is warm, pool cold.

Avoid this place at all costs. There is no sense of management within the place, no one has a clue what is going on. The place STINKS of dead rodents so I can’t imagine what the kitchen etc is like. The place is filthy and needs to be shut down The “ staff “ are so rude and couldn’t care what is said and have little to no respect for each other or any one for that matter. I will never return and never recommend to anyone.

Absolute shambles. Staff are rude on reception. Didn’t know what they were doing or what spa day I was booked onto. Facilities are disgusting and dirty. No where to sit when by the pool area but three chairs. It is not a spa!!!! Pool feels cold. Tiles on the floor by the steam room were filthy. Food looks awful in the cafe. Couple bits of ham wrapped in cling film and some cheese. Couple slices of cake that’s it. Didn’t look appealing. No slippers supplied walking around in bare foot when the place is so dirty. The spa/ salon upstairs looks lovely however the place is going mouldy, damp patches everywhere. Mould up the walls by the products. For the sake of all the other reviews don’t go here. Wish I read the reviews before I went. It’s like nobody cares about the place. Needs to shut down and re start clearly.

My recent visit to Holbrook Manor and Spa was an absolute disgrace. What was supposed to be a relaxing spa afternoon for my wife and me turned into a stress-filled ordeal due to sheer incompetence, terrible customer service, and a lack of basic hospitality standards. Before arriving, we called to upgrade our booking from just a massage to their “Afternoon Retreat.” The so-called “manager” promised to call us back to confirm—but of course, they never did. We followed up the next day, only to be told that the previous person must have “forgotten.” It was at this point that I started to wonder whether this place was run by actual professionals or just a group of disinterested amateurs. Upon arrival, we were informed we needed a £1 coin for the lockers. Now, you’d think a supposedly premium spa would have basic customer convenience in mind and keep a few coins at the front desk. But no—the “manager” instead sent me on a ridiculous scavenger hunt to the café (which had none), and then all the way back to my car. Unsurprisingly, I didn’t have one. At this point, I was already irritated by how poorly this place was run. But what happened next was even worse. After returning from my pointless trip to the car, I decided that enough was enough. The entire guest experience was already ruined, so I requested a full cancellation and refund. Instead of handling this with professionalism, the “manager” panicked and started scrambling to get pound coins from other guests! Imagine that—rather than having spare change at the front desk, they were begging other paying customers to solve their own operational failures. I politely declined and explained that their lack of preparation had already ruined the entire experience. But instead of just processing the refund, the “manager” proceeded to argue with me in the lobby for nearly ten minutes—all while leaving other guests waiting. They even had the nerve to lecture me about how they “inform members” about the £1 coin requirement. My response? “I AM NOT A MEMBER.” To top it all off, the lobby itself was dirty and poorly maintained. Before leaving, I actually had to tell the “manager” to grab a broom and clean it. If a spa can’t even be bothered to keep its entrance presentable, what does that say about the cleanliness of the facilities? After the ridiculous back-and-forth, I was given a handwritten note stating that management would “review” my refund request. I had to force them to rewrite it to explicitly state that a refund would actually be issued. As of now, I’m still waiting for a real manager to contact me to process the refund. If they fail to do so, I’ll simply take their pathetic handwritten note to my bank and initiate a chargeback. Holbrook Manor and Spa pretends to be a luxury retreat, but in reality, it’s a disorganized, unprofessional, and filthy mess.
