Pestana Porto Santo Beach Resort & Spa

Great hotel resort with All Inclusive meals and drinks. Excellent service and good quality amenities. Evening entertainment mainly suitable for families, with young children which is understandable.

Ongeziene keuze bij ontbijt!!! Sommige gasten ruimden zelf hun plastieken bekertjes en bakjes niet op, door de wind gingen die dan op de grond en dat leek dan soms niet zo proper. Hotelpersoneel probeert wel snel op te ruimen.

It’s Pontins or Butlins with a beach. Before writing a brief review, I want anyone reading this to know I have the fortune to have worked at Pestana Resorts on Madeira Island for 9 years. When I arrived in Madeira in 2008 I would hear people talking about the new Porto Santo hotel that had opened, however as I am not an All Inclusive type of guy and I never had any interest in AI. This year due to a late booking all I could find was the Pestana All Inclusive, as it was only me and my 9 year old son, I opted for it for 3 nights. I need to say, this is a very nice location and the accommodation is reasonable however you can’t sleep well as the walls are very thin and you hear the family next door until 1am. Then you get woken by the electric service car that runs past the hotel rooms every so often. Food is a horror story, absolutely school dinners, entertainment is pretty dreadful. We paid 550€ for 3 nights, I really should not have travelled, but truth be told, this is like Pontins, it’s very low quality, it’s actually expensive and the only great feature is the location. Avoid this place unless you are after just all inclusive. Frankly it’s a dire experience, an embarrassment to the normally decent Pestana Hotel Group. Especially be careful to anyone with problems with salt, the food here is very highly salted to make it taste acceptable. As I said I worked for Pestana and I quite like the company, I live on Madeira and know many good people who work in Pestana, but this is awful, it’s so bad I would rather have stayed at home or gone camping. Pestana should consider rebranding this as Butlins on sea. One last thing, all inclusive for Pestana is a lie, you pay for the sunloungers on the beach!!!!

Absolute hidden gem, I went for a couple of days and could have stayed for months, I wished I'd have brought my family. I traveled with TUI, lovely hotel right on the beach. OMG my new favourite place. Beautiful sandy beaches and not a sole on them. Food good,buffet and 2 a la cartes, drinks some branded on the AI Would be great for families, will look to book next summer

Subjective reviews are exactly that. Generally highlighting a personal grievance and not looking at the big picture, which is my personal option. Pestana Porto Santo was wonderfully relaxing for a quiet 2 week break. We have no grievances to air, excellent value relative to cost, fantastic beach which was great for early morning walk,  hand prepped cocktails with branded labels so be inventive and get staff to make something up. We always had a choice at buffet, I personally ate fish and Papaya nearly every day.  Staff always willing to help and friendly, get out what you put in. Restaurants were all good, and easy to book. Grounds were large and well tended with Olive trees, and huge Lavender and Thyme bushes. Sauna,Steam and indoor pool all free to use, decent wine list if you want to avail yourself. We would return without question, and probably will, which would be a first for us as we have never been to same place twice. So in essence, don't look to have grievances, as probably says more about you than them

The hotel is lovely and lives up to the pictures, the rooms are well designed, the pools are excellent and there is plenty of space to spread out. The hotel is situated about 100 yds from a really excellent beach, it's very accessible and is very clean. The sea is a tad cool but hey it is the Atlantic. The staff are really helpful but the Pestana Group seem to be hiring workers straight from school and the training is on the job. The buffet was at best mediocre and sometimes did achieve even this level. At Breakfast the "bacon" has certainly been processed maybe once or twice but it has never been anywhere near a pig. The sausages were awful all and probably did not contain anything like meat. The eggs were put out in large numbers and and left until they were all gone. The food in the restaurants very nice compared with the buffet and well worth a visit. Overall a lovely stay just a pity about the buffet. I hope that the management read this review, a lovely hotel, and excellent staff let down by a poor buffet
