Hotel Cala Luna

Enjoy an Aperol Spritz on the rooftop bar of this classy, charming, and devoted hotel. I do not normally give high rankings, but this hotel knocked me off my feet, into a warm, cosy, and clean bed, after feeding me a home baked croissant to start my morning, and handing me an Aperol Spritz at the end of my day, while the Sardinian breezes tickled my tank top ties, and I gazed at the Harbour and mountains that have been populated for 1000s of years. This hotel cares about the people who stay with them. During the end of COVID, my bank would not release payment, and my reservation was cancelled. In horror, I had to fix this problem, and the Hotel was so accommodating, I was able to get my room back, with the same rate… even though the cancellation was entirely my fault. Every morning, the croissants were hand made, and literally the best I have had. I smothered them in local Sardinian butter, and topped it with different local honey, collected by fat bumblebees from a variety of Sardinian fora. The home made yoghurt was lighter fare if I wanted to compliment my croissant… and there were cheeses and cold meats in the breakfast that was included. At night, the rooftop comes alive. A light buffet is free (with drinks), and I spent the evening contemplating the ancient civilizations of Sardinia, and the delightful fizz of an Aperol Spritz. We are planning to return next year, to the same place, and cannot wait. BTW, timing is everything- we went in May, before the crowds, and were able to dine at any restaurant, walk anywhere without crowds, and enjoy the local beaches. This is the place to stay, if you want personal service from people who actually care whether your first trip post-COVID is amazing. ,

Hotel was in a convenient location - within walking distance to the main piers where you can book boat tours, beaches and local grocery store if you need to buy any essentials. Rooms were clean and had air conditioning. The ladies at the front desk were also lovely and helpful and provided recommendations when I was looking to book a boat tour - you can purchase a packed lunch from the hotel, hire a beach towel and borrow a beach umbrella for free. Breakfast had quite a few savoury and sweet options. And I recommend the Skybar, their rooftop bar for drinks and free snack buffet (from 6.30-8.30pm) in the evening - great views!

This hotel is nicely refurbished with clean and tidy rooms, aircon and all facilities that work etc. Add to that the excellent rooftop Skybar and staff that really can't do enough for you and I found this a great place to stay for 3 nights,

This is an excellent choice and their restaurant is outstanding. From the moment i arrived, everything was well explained, and all the staff was so helpful. The room was immaculate and had a lot of nice touches. Breakfast was the best i had in Italy. Of course, the view is great as is the location. Walking distance to everything, in between the two beaches. If i am ever back, I will be staying here.

After ordering a meal and to save the staff the trouble as we saw they were busy we asked for all the courses to be brought at once. My partners started arrived ten minutes earlier followed by my main course after which five minutes later they tried to bring my starter. When I pointed this out the waiter accused me of making a fuss, I told them to cancel my starter having started the main course already and he refused telling me to be quiet. I was forced to pay either way and when I attempted to explain that this was not so great he told me that you are not right and got aggressive with me as a customer. Very strange and uncomfortable

Overall, we had a great experience with the hotel and their restaurant. And it’s a great value. I will especially say that the management all the servers were very friendly and nice and helpful! It felt pretty authentic Sardinian experience. Pros: - favorite restaurant in Cala Gonone for us - we had a few dinners - roof top terrace is great to chill on and have some nice drinks with a great view - we did a day long boat trip through the hotel, which was a highlight to go by boat to all the famous sights and beaches in the area. The hotel packed us a lunch box too - they did laundry for us, same day and folded nicely - location is terrific - rooms were fine and importantly, the air conditioning was very good (we were here in August and it was hot!) Cons: - rooms and bathrooms were small and kind of dated (I think there might be a few bigger/ nicer rooms with balcony, which likely is a better choice). A spruce up wouldn’t hurt sometime soon. - we struggled drying our swim suits and towels and wet water shoes because there wasn’t any space to hang anything - breakfast was fine but not a standout (surprisingly since the dinner is so good) - beds were clean but not super comfortable

Estamos alojados aún en este hotel. La ubicación es buena, el desayuno también así como la atención. Pero me ha molestado enormemente la política del hotel sobre su Skybar (el cual está abierto para los que nos alojamos y para público exterior). La situación es que llegamos mi marido y yo junto a nuestras dos niñas a tomar algo y nos sentamos en una mesa alta cuadrada con dos sillas. Al lado nuestro había otro matrimonio con una niña en una mesa cuadrada también y comenzamos a hablar con la familia italiana cuando llega el encargado para decirnos que sólo podíamos estar en esa mesa para fotos, pero que debíamos ir a otra mesa (del otro lado de la terraza) que si era para cuatro porque en la que nos habíamos sentado era solo para dos. Entendería que nos movieran de sitio si esa mesa estuviera reservada (pero no porque no aceptan reservas), o si hubiera gente haciendo cola (que no había). Pero debíamos irnos a la otra “por si venían dos personas”. Les dije que sentábamos a las niñas pero nosotros nos quedábamos de pie (como ocurre en muchas terrazas del mundo en las que he estado, porque no es para comer, no hay nada para comer) pero dijeron que debíamos ir a la mesa del otro lado que si era para 4. Le pregunté entonces si es que la política del hotel permite que cuatro personas nos alojemos 4 noches en el hotel pero ellos deciden donde me pongo de pie??? Dijeron que era la política del hotel. Dejé a mi familia allí y bajé a recepción para preguntar si tenían hoja de sugerencias y dijeron que en Italia no hay normativa de eso (en España es obligatorio) así que entiendo yo que las normativas son “según las circunstancias” en este hotel. Cuando regresé junto a mi familia el personal había unido una mesa a la nuestra y por eso destaco la atención del personal. Mal acostumbrada estoy a la flexibilidad española, el movimiento libre de sillas y el hacerte un espacio para que te sientas siempre bienvenido. “Spain is different” pero para bien.

5/5 Due settimane di vacanza con una camera vista mare in questo piccolo hotel che è situato in un’ottima posizione sul lungomare di Cala Gonone. Camere rinnovate molto comode e pulitissime. Bagno con doccia molto spaziosa che in una situazione come quella di Cala Gonone è fondamentale! Non sono frequenti infatti docce libere o spiagge grandi ma è più probabile che si passi la giornata in barca per visitare le bellissime cale del golfo. Infine una menzione speciale per il Puma 2 di Salvatore che è espertissimo e simpaticissimo. Da provare la gita giornaliera, complimenti!

Buon hotel..... i prezzi delle stanze sono molto contenuti per essere comunque un albergo che da sul mare. Purtroppo lato molto negativo e la situazione parcheggi. Per parcheggiare non esistono posti vicini e se si vuole usufruire del parcheggio privato bisogna pagate un extra che credo che possa invece essere tranquillamente essere incluso nel prezzo.
