The hotel itself is majestic. The entrance with the green leaves trickling off the arched awning is reminiscent to a scene in a movie. The room was elegant and had a classic homie feel. The hotel is located at the heart of the nightlife. Close to so many cool bars like The drinkery, House of Machine, and Art of Duplicity(amazing hidden jazz bar). The staff was welcoming and always smiled, but there was a moment on the second day as I walked up the beautifully carpeted stairway leading to my room where I got confronted about whether I was a guest or not. Besides that moment, everyone was nice.

Great location, very handy for city bowl and great restaurants on the doorstep in Heritage Square. Nice friendly staff, comfortable bed, other furniture a little tired but very good value overall. Would book again.

This is the most fabulous hotel that I think I've ever stayed at. It is in a building dating from 1771; the quality of the decor is stunning, as are the staff. They have thought of EVERYTHING, from sun cream to earplugs and everything in between. I had a superb stay, and would say that if you're going to Capetown - which is a lovely, interesting place to visit, forget the big chains - stay here!

Lovely hotel with unique rooms in an old but restored building. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a deluxe room for 4 nights facing Bree St. The noise from the street and restaurant below could be loud but it didn’t keep us from getting a good nights sleep. If you want modern, this isn’t the place for you. We liked the uneven floors and the high ceilings and vintage furniture. No pool or gym. The breakfast was superb, good variety so even though the menu didn’t change you had multiple options. Most importantly, the hotel is in a safe area. Lots of dining options within a five min walk. Much of the city is not safe so stick to very touristy areas when walking or take Uber otherwise you may wind up having a very unpleasant experience like we did.

Stayed here for 2 nights after cruise. Wonderful and warmly welcomed by Pam, Bamford and colleagues. Rooms are large, comfy and quirky. I am allergic to feathers and they changed bedding immediately. The breakfast was excellent with great buffet options and hot breakfast on offer, too. Nothing was too much trouble - would recommend.

The room was very nice and the staff was wonderful! The hotel is in a hip neighborhood with lots of bars and restaurants catering more to local young professions than tourists. It's not too far from the waterfront, a moderate walk or a short Uber ride. Our room faced the street so if you are sensitive to noise, you might want to ask for an interior room.

Great experience. Lovely room. Spotlessly clean. The best Eggs Royalle I have had. The square at the back is owned by a separate restaurant but a great place for a Drink and meal. Helpful staff. No complaints except minimal outside space (rooftop terrace) but this is an issue of being in a city centre hotel.

What a gem! Beautiful vintage rooms, crispy clean, comfortable bed, nice spacious bathroom with a bath, great view and location and friendly service. We had an enormous delay, yet they picked us up in the middle of the night, much appreciated.

An absolutely fabulous hotel with lots of character and exemplary customer service. Nothing was too much trouble and all done with genuine good will. I will deffinately be recommending this hotel to everyone visiting Cape Town.
