Velmoré Hotel & Spa

Awful experience! From check-in to the actual stay at the hotel. Our first impression when walking in, was that perhaps the hotel had no electricity. The ambience was dull and dark. No warm welcoming at all. We then proceeded to our allocated room. The passage leading to our room, also dark and with no life (lights very deem). The room was not impressive at all. Went to what was supposed to be a view through the balcony, however only found overgrown trees. First, the wooden deck on the balcony not well fixed, you step on one and in wobbles. The railings were rusty and showing a sign of not being maintained. We then requested to be moved to another vacant room. Inside, bathroom had no towels, no tissue provided. One of the ceilings lights was not working. We called and reported and only to discover upon our return from dinner that the light is stil not fixed. The toilet not smelling good. But what broke the camel's back, was the morning breakfast. TERRIBLE and very stale. The only things we had to eat and were convinced to be fresh was the toasted break and the fried eggs. We then decided there and then to check out and find an alternative place in order to salvage the remainder our anniversary celebration. The hotel lacks serious maintenance and not a welcoming place to spend your precious time and money on.

Hotel booked online on the same day(23 sept 2021), arrived at hotel and asked to pay balance prior check in. Upon entering the room, pics speak for itself. Taken to a second room that smelt like poop. We immediately cancelled and were assured by Wayne and Bheki that a full refund will be done by the following Monday. Till date-no refund or feedback from the hotel after various follow ups. Knowing they were incompetent I sent an email while still there confirming the discussion. Above all the hotel says we falsely accuse them and the pics are false after my Facebook post. The comments are now deleted after I have proved their dishonesty but obviously they didn’t think I would have screenshots! Wayne also now denies he said we will be refunded, so we’re basically “lying” like how we have false pics. I’ve called again and now being told that they have a cancellation policy and I won’t be refunded! Your policy doesn’t apply when you don’t deliver the basics if a hotel, also where we’re you for 2 weeks since my first email. Save the headache and book at other much nicer and competent hotels in the area.

This was the only place available on Friday for a quick get away from the city and was expensive but didn't worrie me, we for there only to find out there is no pool, but in the pictures there is, I asked for a king size bed and got 2 x single beds put together, we had to fill the bath with water from the basin as there was no water pressure in the bath and then in the morning there was no hot water in the shower and the shower head was blocked, had to have a plumber join us in our room for a romantic morning together. Couldn't even make coffee as the kettle was very dirty, even the reception agreed he wouldn't even boil water in it. i did complain and was told they will email me the same day with a offer to stay one night free. I still havent had a response. Beautiful place, but not impressed.

This hotel used to be a gem, but it has fallen into a state of disaster. 1) There was no COVID-19 screening or protocols observed 2) The room had a terrible drain smell throughout the night 3) The sofas in the room have fallen into disrepair 4) The breakfast was a joke - cheap juice, brown bread, 3cm sausages, burnt bacon and plain egg 4) The general attitude of the staff was disappointing, when asked if the area has Uber eats, they said yes whereas this is not true. 5) The open view TV package is crap for hotel that is supposed to have been a 4star This jewel of a hotel needs to be rescued and given to people who know what they are doing or are serious about the establishment. COVID-19 cannot be blamed for poor levels of service, drain smells, bad breakfast. Get your act together and stop running down that hotel.
