Hotel Miralago

My family and I stayed at Hotel Miralago in Cernobbio for two nights, and it was a deeply disappointing experience. Despite confirming our reservation a day before and explaining we had just returned from almost 3 weeks of traveling across Italy, we were met with rudeness and mockery from the staff about the quantity of our luggage. They assumed we didn't understand Italian and openly made fun of us in the lobby with comments like, "Are they planning on moving here?" The room was in terrible condition – peeling wallpaper, stained chairs, and holes throughout. We asked to speak with the owner, and this almost bald man with glasses, who was likely just the Manager, was particularly dismissive and unapologetic when we brought up these issues. When we addressed the rude comments we openly heard in the lobby, this Manager (who also participated in the mockery) told us that their comments were just "considerations" and “to take them as we liked.” Didn't offer any apology and acted as if he didn’t care whether we stayed or left. We observed similar disrespectful behavior towards other foreign guests as well, which clearly shows that this is a pattern. The staff felt too comfortable making loud and unprofessional comments, including management. The only exception was the young gentleman at the concierge, who was polite and professional. It is incredibly disappointing to be treated this way, especially considering the Ambrosini family's reputation in the hospitality industry, first as owners of the Hotel Centrale and for years of the Hotel Miralago. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of hospitality is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a 4-star hotel. We will not be returning and will advise others to avoid this place.

We have stayed at this family-run hotel many times over the last 20 years, and have always enjoyed our stays. Some of the rooms have lovely views over the lake, and it is a short walking distance from the Quay. All the staff are delightful, and we always feel looked-after. Restaurant is very good, and we enjoy the outside tables overlooking the Piazza and the lake. The fish from the lake is particularly good. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, and there is waitress service for hot food and coffee. We understand that the owners are selling the hotel to a well-known local group at the end of 2024, so we hope that it doesn't change! We look forward to staying here again.

We have just enjoyed four nights at the hotel in a lovely corner room with a dual aspect balcony. The lake views were amazing from the 4th floor. The staff were all so friendly, helpful and efficient in every department. The hotel has a faded charm, parts of the decor could do with a refurb but it’s clean and beautiful with a sense of its history. Would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay. Cernobbio is 10 minutes from Como by ferry and you can also travel up the lake from here as well. Much quieter than staying in busy Como. What a great experience we had. Very welcoming hotel. Gabriel was so helpful throughout the full stay, made the best cocktails and gave us restaurant recommendations (you need to try the espresso martini). Hotel is 1min walk from the ferry that takes you directly to Como. Get the room with a water view - you won’t regret it - breathtaking. The hotel is so quaint and cute.

The room was small but comfortable with a balcony overlooking the lake which was the highlight of our stay. Bed and pillows were comfi too. But the best part was the people; very nice and attend. We had an electric vehicle which were given a parking adjacent to hotel and we just gave them the key and they will put it to charge. They printed our boarding passes for our return flight. They gave us recommendation where to eat good local food. We had a great time in our 2 nights stay.

We had the most amazing 2 nights at Hotel Miralago, this is such a beautiful hotel in a great location, wonderful views. Hotel is on the older side but you don’t mind when the staff are so friendly and it fits in with the aesthetics of the lake! You wouldn’t want modern here! Breakfast daily was lovely.

This hotel was at a very beautiful location overlooking Lake Como. Perfect for getting around to other towns because the boat launch was steps away. Rooms are dated but serve their purpose. Breakfast was adequate. However, the demeanor and attitude of the owner at the front desk could be better. We booked six rooms as we were attending a wedding nearby. We did not arrive at the same time and throughout our stay everyone independently commented about her attitude. The two other front desk workers were as nice as can be. I even commented about it to a nice one when we checked out and she said oh we were busy and I said no, it was every day. We were there for four nights. We did not eat at the restaurant there but Harry’s next door is excellent.

Great location and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our time staying at this property and would stay there again.

The location is absolutely perfect. Right on the water with several dining options, shops, cafe’s within a few steps. The building is beyond charming. Staff was so kind, attentive and gracious. Met our every need with a smile.
