This is an en-suite room in the owners’ house. Alain and Françoise were very welcoming hosts who presented a generous traditional breakfast every day, with confiture made from their own fruit trees and vines. The house is in a very small hamlet surrounded by fields. The garden, with in-ground pool, is peaceful and quiet. Our hosts were extremely attentive and helpful with places to visit, even booking a hair appointment in a nearby village. We visited the old town in Saintes about 25 minutes drive from Geay; had a fine lunch in Cognac and spent half a day in Royan at the mouth of the Gironde river. We had left some clothing in our previous hotel and Alain was extremely helpful in calling the rather unfriendly manager and helping get them returned. We left feeling we had made some good friends.
