From the moment we checked in, to when we checked out our stay at The Cavendish was absolutely faultless. We found all the members of staff to be professional and attentive but never intrusive, especially the Lady on Reception with the Blonde Hair and Glasses ( sorry but we did not get her name) who upon learning that we could not get Tickets to enter Chatsworth House, obtained said Tickets for us in less than Five Minutes. Our Room (Number 11) was clean, spacious and had a magnificent view of the Parkland, very comfortable Bed and excellent Bathroom. As others have posted for the size of the Hotel the Car Park is not as large as it could be, but we just arrived a Hour before check in and had a Drink in the Bar whilst our Room was made ready for us. We decided not to eat at the Hotel but to go to il Lupo, a Two Minute walk from the Car Park entrance, if like us you know and love real deal Italian cuisine you will not be disappointed. We can definitely recommend this Hotel and will be back for Chatsworth at Christmas, as soon as we can.
It feels like a family hotel, the owner and his wife live on one end of the house and the passengers live on the other side. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is very warm, the room is clean and tidy, and the decoration is beautiful. It really makes you feel at home. We lived in a family room on the second floor, and there was a small courtyard behind it. The children were happy to pile two snowmen behind.
The location of the hotel itself is right next to the road. But it is not a main road, so it is not noisy. The main attractions in the windy area of Beckwell, the town of Aidensol, in the Richmond Bedroom Manor are very close, within 15 minutes by car.
The slight fly in the ointment is that there are no other shops around except a Robin Hood Club restaurant that it operates.
Another memorable experience at Fischer's. We have been coming here for many years to eat and stay and each time it is a delight. We came for two stays in September 2024 - the first overnight, the second as a family for Sunday lunch. Peaceful, relaxed and restful atmosphere, beautiful and lavish decor that's in keeping with the arts and crafts period architecture, outstanding gardens and location, and, of course, terrific food. Service is really friendly, the staff describing every dish with clear passion. Completely unexpectedly, my wife found a birthday card signed by all the restaurant staff on our dinner table during our overnight stay - a lovely and thoughtful surprise. Overall, one of our absolute favourite places. Thank you.

In the Peak District National Park, the surrounding scenery is particularly quiet; the residents of the hotel and the surrounding towns are very nice. The hotel room is large and the outdoor dining area is also very large.
It is only over one kilometer away from the 05 version of ”Pride and Prejudice”. Walking along the path, the scenery is excellent. The hotel is clean and tidy, and there is a country pub downstairs with Western food. It is much cheaper than the nearby Cavendish Hotel.

We stayed at the H Boutique Hotel so as to visit the Christmas at Chatsworth experience (brilliant BTW) but although the hotel ought to have been excellent there were too many “fails”. Summary: LIKES- a large double aspect room which was modern and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and did their best to help and engage at all times The hotel was central in Bakewell and so it was easy to walk and explore all the shops cafes etc. DISLIKES- the heating and plumbing were not functional. The room was heated by a hot air system which was noisy and not particularly efficient. Also, it switched on and off automatically through the night which woke us up. The hot water was only ever warm (not hot) and the shower was just a trickle. It’s a shame as the bathroom was modern and expensively fitted so why didn’t it work properly? It was cold weather while we were there and we never really felt warm at any time during our stay. The catering arrangements are also very odd. Apparently the attached tea room where we had breakfast is a separate business and although the girls were friendly and helpful it didn’t help that it was so cold in there. The reception area of the hotel to which is adjacent opens directly on to the street so every time the door opened an icy blast came through. When we left the chap on reception was wearing an anorak to keep warm! Parking is a bit of a lottery as you have to use public car parks which are patrolled by fiercely efficient car park attendants. And if you arrive on a Monday as we did, all the surrounding streets are closed off for the market so it’s impossible to actually get to the hotel with your luggage until 7pm. SUMMARY- a pleasant and modern hotel with helpful and friendly staff but clearly none of them are trained hoteliers with the experience to manage guests’ expectations. Great potential, sadly unrealised at the moment. We wouldn’t return.
