The location of this hotel is very good, in the city center. Unfortunately, there are no scenic spots here😔, but the facilities of the hotel are very poor. The water in the bathroom of the first room was very slow. After complaining, we were changed to the second room. The room was larger, but There is no heating. It turned out that the switch of the machine was controlled by the reception. The staff forgot to turn it on😅, and the heater in the bathroom could not be turned on. It was only 3 degrees that day, and it was the same after changing 3 rooms😤
Great hotel, there is a river under the room, good breakfast, good hygiene, friendly front desk service, very good, good location, there are many delicious food nearby, I will choose to book next time
We were supposed to stay here two nights. This was the end point of an absolutely amazing 8 days in Co Donegal with great towns, villages, people, food, accommodations. This was the only place we got into and no one offered to help us bring all our luggage up. We had a room with a false balcony but overlooking the parking lot which would later prove to be a major issue. We had to keep the window open as it was warm. There was some prom or something going on and it was extremely noisy ALL night. We got no sleep. People were screaming, carrying on, etc When we arrived in Sligo TOWN, I immediately felt depressed and like I wanted to go back to any of the places we had been in Donegal. The town felt unsafe, unsavory, not at all charming (like Donegal TOWN had been) and not like your traditional Irish town. I prefer Dublin to this place now that I know. The next day we expressed our feelings to our driver guide when he came to get us for the day of touring Co Sligo (which by the way is gorgeous!), and he helped us find LAST MINUTE, in Buncrana (Lake of the Shadows Hotel - will review them in a bit). THANK GOD! I immediately felt relief. We could not lose another night of sleep and enjoy our days out and about. IF you stay in Sligo pick a cute place in the country, a B and B, etc. I took the least amount of pictures the night we ended up in this town.
Have just come back from an absolutly lovely weekend away in Silgo. People are giving out about staycation prices but I think that this hotel is worth the few euro extra. We had a lovely welcome from David at reception and throughout the 2 short days we were there the staff were brilliant. The room was lovely, clean and had a fab view from the balcony. I was slightly concerned about the bar next door but as soon as the balcony door was closed just silence. We chose to go to the Dunes bar up the road(slightly cheaper pricing on food) even though it does not open until 5 it is worth the wait the food is lovely and staff are welcoming and chilled. We took a stroll 'down town' as we were blessed with the weather. There is not much going on but that suited us..take a stroll along the beach or have a sea**** bath at Voya.. I would highly recommend this place if you looking for a real R&R experience..there are lots of walking trails for those feeling a bit more active . Will definitely be back again. Thanks to all the staff at this hotel for a super stay 😁

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was beautiful, and the staff were so accomadating. They were able to cater for my food intolerances which was amazing. My only critic is the chips I ordered for my dinner, some of them weren't fully cooked and no one came to check everything was OK but other than that. I would stay there again.

My wife and I attended a wedding at Markree Castle. We stayed in the castle for 2 nights. The castle and grounds are wonderful and maintained to a superb standard. The staff were really helpful, friendly and very obliging. All of the activities of the wedding that we attended were run extremely well, with great facilities and an excellent meal that was served efficiently. On the day of the wedding, freedom of the castle for the wedding party, for as long as it wished, was great. Access to the kitchen for snacks, was a really nice touch. A truly memorable day. The only issue that surprised me was the open gift cards box, rather than a secure closed box. Our room was impressive: so many pillows and a bath beside the bed !. Breakfast was served quickly by a wonderful waiter. I had the full Irish, which was freshly cooked, with any variations you requested. The fried eggs were superb, but the black & white puddings were rather thin, and the potato pieces were oily. However, the email that was sent to us prior to our arrival, made a very bad first impression. It warned us not to enter the castle before a set time. It inaccurately suggested places we could go to eat, as we waited, but not all were open. When we arrived just before the set time, a number of our wedding’s guests were already waiting outside the main door in the cold before risking to enter the castle because of the emails they had received ! For such a prime and pricey location and service, the tone of these emails was inappropriate. After the bad impression of the emails, it was a number of hours before I realised that the staff were in fact very friendly and helpful, and not ogres! Overall our stay was pricy but good value and memorable, in spite of the pre-arrival emails !.
