Al-Siq
MMiss LexusAs one of the seven new wonders of the world, Petra not only has temples, monasteries, snake roads, chanting, candlelight, the most expensive ticket (670 yuan), but also the most expensive donkey.
The Treasury
EEva2022A beautiful place. Make sure to allocate enough time for it as it takes a while to hike from the entrance.
Great Temple
LlancanyinzkkAfter leaving the church, we climbed to a high slope. I sat in the small tent there for 5 minutes, adjusted and rested, drank a cup of hot "mint tea", and continued to walk down.
Going down is the magnificent The Great Temple of Petra - the largest and most magnificent palace. From the photo below, you can see the royal tombs and Palace, as well as the Great Temle and the direction of the passage to the monastery.
The Great Temple was first discovered by Brönnow and von Domaszewski, but it was eventually confirmed by Bachmann in his Petra city plan that the Great Temple existed, as well as the Column Street on the southern hillside. In view of his assumption of the existence of the Great Temple area and the importance of this assumption in understanding the architectural and cultural history of Petra, the site was excavated and discovered in 1993, laying the foundation for its remarkable achievements.
Monastery (Al Dayr)
1139***37I had a day trip in Petra so I had time to go to this monastery. It takes about 3-4 hours to walk from the entrance of the scenic area to the monastery without taking pictures. The monastery is deep in the mountain. The map mark is 15. There are nearly 2,000 steps. Locals will take you up on donkeys, but it costs money, and donkeys are not easy to ride. Some people fell down. I have seen several groups climb the stairs and couldn't climb halfway. Everyone should do it according to their ability. It's also tiring to come down. The stone stairs are very slippery and a bit dangerous. You need hiking shoes. By the way, this is the filming location of Transformers 2. Be sure to prepare food if you want to go to this place. Things along the way (tourist souvenirs) are all made in China~
High Place of Sacrifice
NNickolas Cthe most underrated trail in petra. there are not many crowds and the views are amazing
Petra Museum
Ssarah小piuThe new pavilion of the Petra Museum, which was completed in 2018 and officially opened in early 2019, is completely free and opens until 8 or 9 pm in summer, which surprised us. On the left side of the gate is the desk, which has instructions in three languages, Arabic, English and Japanese. A video on the right, explaining the local history, will not miss the most striking sign, that is, the Jordanian people thank the Japanese people for funding and designing the museum's new museum. The exhibits in the museum are not only Petra's local artifacts, but also many of them have been excavated in surrounding towns. Some artifacts have been excavated just a few years ago. The explanation of the life and development of the Nabateans is still relatively detailed.
Little Petra
YyangniziPetra
Little Petra (Siq al-Barid) is located six or seven kilometers north of Petra. It is a stone-carved city similar to Petra. Although not as magnificent as Petra, it is also very exquisite in details.
Because it is not as famous as Petra, few tourists visit it. The quiet environment has a more treasure-hunting atmosphere.
It is mainly a caravan station.
Obelisk Tomb & Bab as-Siq Triclinium.
LlancanyinzkkDjin blocks Not long after walking, I saw the Roman obelisk from a distance. This Roman obelisk is usually mentioned in conjunction with Bab el Siq Triclinium because they stack up and down, but they are two separate stone tombstone monuments. The upper layer of the Roman obelisk is the four typical long pyramid-shaped cones, which represent the spirit and are used in the symbolism of the Nabateans to commemorate the dead. In the middle of the depression there is a worn statue of a man in a cloak who represents the head of the family, the tomb in the tomb room below. The gables below the tomb room, accompanied by benches on three sides, depict the location of the restaurant. Here, a banquet is set up to honor the ancestors.
