'West Meadows Motel' hardly inspires the imagination - until you get here that is... A superbly designed and built complex that is both architecturally appealing and very well appointed. My phone booking, and reception experience with Matt was both casually relaxed yet thoroughly professional, and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Our 2 bedroom unit was really lovely - 2 identical and well proportioned bedrooms with clever light blinds and super comfy beds. Both tastefully done, and same with the lounge / dining area. Think modern contemporary with plush yet simple decor. Just perfect really. Sliding doors out to balcony, a user-friendly guest laundry and nicely designed car parking and gardens round out the overall impression that this place was designed and built with the guest experience in mind. For a 2 night stay I didn't expect to return after a long day hike on our first day to find the whole unit cleaned and beds tidied - this isn't 'usual' motel practice, yet it was here. Matt was also super helpful with local driving, hiking and 'insider' intel. Situated a km or two out of 'town', we worried about the walk in/out to forage for dinner, but that wasn't an issue once Matt told us about the excellent Stoaker Room 400m down the road, which was fabulous. Meat lovers rejoice! And if you didn't want to drive into Wanaka proper (only 2 mins drive or a 20-30 min walk) then they will happily drop you there and you can taxi home. A relatively new development, built in 2017, West Meadows both feels new, and yet well established at the same time. It is a superb place to stay, and all round one of my favourite motels in a 6 week tour of the country - and yes, I have stayed in many... Would return in a heartbeat and cannot recommend highly enough. Top job guys, may thanks, you were spectacularly good.

Parking is very convenient, the clerk's attitude is very good, ten minutes drive to the town center, not far from the red dot of the network, the inside is very clean, there is no taste at all, it is very suitable for passing by.

In fact, it is a hotel, parking at the door, there is a big supermarket next to it. There are many kitchen utensils in the room. You can buy the materials yourself. The key is to be close to the lake. You can walk in a few minutes. The room is clean and the heating is warm. The sound insulation is a bit poor, compared to other motels, the price is very good, but the check-out time can not be delayed, the cleaning staff urged.

Quite a big resort on the shore of Lake Wanaka, a pleasant walk away from the town. We stayed in a 1 bedroom, ground floor apartment which was a good size, well furnished, and well equipped, with a smashing view across the lawn to the lake and mountains beyond. The furnishing is a little dated but other than that, it was all comfortable. We weren't booked in for breakfast - it was good to walk into town first thing - but did book dinner one evening, and that was more than acceptable.

The view facing the house is very beautiful. It faces the lake directly. You can cross the road to the lakeside and overlook the lonely trees in the distance. The room is very quiet, comfortable and bright. The six of us sat on the spacious terrace and drank tea and chatted in the living room. Unfortunately, it was only Stayed for one night; there is a Chinese restaurant run by Cantonese people downstairs. It was so delicious. We ordered green bone fish, Phnom Penh abalone, mutton and drank wine. It cost 1,080 yuan for 7 people; if you stay a few more days, you can have it yourself The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking; I will definitely stay here again in the future. The welcome was very pleasant and the room we were allocated was indeed the quiet room we’d requested upon booking. We were upstairs with something of a lake view in a room that looked as though it had recently been re-furbished. The room was clean and comfortable and access to the car park via a set of stairs from the corridor made loading and unloading much easier than if we’d had to access our room from front reception, in what is quite a large building. There is a bar adjacent to the front entrance and a restaurant at the rear (which was closed during our stay) and I don’t know what impact they would have had upon our desire for a quiet room had they been going full swing of a weekend.

Fantastic location - short walk to town and the lake. The little brook out the back was so pretty! Negatives - there was rarely anyone at the desk due to staff shortages, and it's a little dated. Also, if anyone is enjoying the back yard (As well they should!) they are looking right at you if you are on the bottom floor. Positives - Clean, Close to everything, great shower pressure - and the in unit laundry units! We used the heck out of that thing. Would absolutely stay here again.

A big motel, the environment is good, and there are children's entertainment facilities, children love it! There is a large bed and a bunk in the room, enough for us 2 big 2 small 4 people to sleep. Although the kitchen is small enough, you can make some food for yourself. When I checked in, there were 2 children, and I was charged an additional fee of $ 50, so the cost performance was not so high.

This was a last minute decision to stop over at Wanaka. After a brief search, we found the Fairway Motel, called in and after a brief chat with the owner, we were settled in a very nice cosy unit. The unit has been brought right up to standard with a lovely new shower and bathroom. Some thought had been given to restocking the rooms well too and everything that we wanted was there in the unit. (unit 1 ) Great utensils for cooking too, appeared to be very new. A very comfortable Kingsize bed was a feature and after a solid drive, it was nice to relax and to get a good nights sleep. Outside, there was a small terrace which was nice and not a bad spot to put some washing out to dry out in the sun. I spoke to the owners, a young couple living there with their three children and they have been renovating the rooms as and when they could afford to. These were a solid young Kiwi Family, trying to get ahead and working their butts off to build their business. We wish them all the best as they deserve to do well. When we get back to Wanaka again, we will be staying at the Fairway Motel at Wanaka.

Whilst this is called Wanaka lake view, we were very disappointed to find our room was tucked away at the back with two narrow windows looking out onto a hedge close to them. It was very dark in the room and actually tricky to even know what the weather was doing outside! It appears that it is only room at the motel that is unfortunate in its position. The others all have big windows and more spacious. It’s easy to book as we did thinking we were in one of the front facing apartments. Unclear on website. The accommodation it’s self was sufficient ( though a tiny bathroom sink to wash any kitchen things in ) Staff were friendly and helpful. Location of actual motel was perfect. But being so near the beautiful lake and yet stuck into a very dark room was very frustrating. No where to sit outside the room either. I’m sure it’s cheaper than the other rooms, but really many more motels with 2 bed rooms with a much more pleasant outlook. Wish I’d read the reviews about the studio room before hand as others warn of finding the same problem. Wanaka itself very beautiful and the whole area well worth. Visit.
