I give this hotel four stars because of two things: the outdoor dining area with a sea-view and the friendly staff. I am glad I was there mostly during dry weather, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoor seating. However, the 15 minutes or so that I spent inside in the sitting area when it rained, it felt like sitting in an unkempt living room of a big family. It was indeed a family business and many people, possibly family members were helping out. They were all very friendly. The little pool was often full. There seemed to be many day-visitors and at times it was very loud. As for Wi-Fi, although they kept saying ”connect to D-link”, there was mostly no internet with that link. The rooms were small and dark and did not give a very clean feeling. My bed-sheets had blood stains from mosquito bites of the previous guest. The family seemed to be cutting corners in many things. Even the soap was a left-over last piece of what looked like the soap used for doing laundry. Maybe local tourists had no problem with this, but I found it rather unclean. I am glad I had the experience and I did enjoy having a drink or two by the seaside. So, I can forget about the not-so-good stuff in the hotel.

🛖☀️ Hotel opening its doors on a beautiful small beach. Presence of transactions, palm trees, cocotiers, shelter and immediate access to the sea. Various types of boxes with or without private terraces. Very good WiFi connection. 🛌 Clean room, well furnished and spacious shower room. Comfortable beds. Presence of bed mosquitoes and air conditioner. 🍽 Good meals even if prices are a little higher though correct, probably given the location of the establishment*****t. 🙋 A nice, smiled and very present staff. Managing out-of-peer dynamics. A adorable servant, laughing and radiant.

This really is a lovely hotel most efficiently run by the Directrice - Stephanie - the gardens & pathways are between the buildings are immaculate & beautiful, the pool is superb & continuously skimmmed of leaves & insects. I had a suite on the top of a two storey building. White walls dark wood furniture, bedroom, bath room & sitting room - very spacious. Two televisions efficient air con & good shower. secure wall safe+excellent wifi. Breakfast is first class with omelettes made to order. Dinner was quite varied & sometimes the dishes were a little ambitious but always well presented & timely. Dinner was served at 8-00pm - not before - with an excellent cocktail bar that really served some very tasty fruity cocktails often prepared by the charming Abi. Every night there was entertainment -band , singer, local dancing & a mannequin parade showing off the outfits put together by the tailor in Neptune boutique. Every day various activities in the pool or ping pong etc. Most of the staff only speak french & almost all the guests were french. I loved my stay & am more than likely to return if in good physical shape.

I don’t recognise the previous reviewers experience to be of the same place that we stayed at. The hotel was immaculately kept. Beautiful grounds and beach. The room was perfectly okay. Maybe not five star but clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and attentive and there was never a problem with the service that we received. We spoke to the Manager on our last day to make him aware of how great the staff were. He must work really long hours as he always seemed to be around checking that everything was as it should be. As it was. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel .

GGuest UserI don’t recognise the previous reviewers experience to be of the same place that we stayed at. The hotel was immaculately kept. Beautiful grounds and beach. The room was perfectly okay. Maybe not five star but clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and attentive and there was never a problem with the service that we received. We spoke to the Manager on our last day to make him aware of how great the staff were. He must work really long hours as he always seemed to be around checking that everything was as it should be. As it was. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel .

These were the things I liked about the hotel: It was very close to the wildlife park, Foret de Bandia and the hotel shuttle could provide a ride to and fro for a fee. The hotel was also close to the airport, but since I was not flying in or out, it did not apply to me. There weren't too many staff members, only about three. They worked hard to provide services and were very friendly. The rooms were spacious, clean and had basic amenities. There was a large pool, which was open 24/7. Food was good although the menu was limited. There were alcoholic drinks to purchase. There was Internet access at the restaurant area. The surrounding area had many baobab trees making the name Baobab Soleil very fitting. One could take walks around the area with no safety concerns. Suggestions: If possible, have an Internet router so that people who like to do some work or read online could read in their rooms or patio instead of going to the restaurant, which is often loud with people talking and also has a lot of flies. Also the weaver birds on the large tree close-by make quite a racket that can be tiring after a while. I was there 3 nights and wished to do some work in my room, but could not do that and was a bit disappointed. All in all, it was a good 3-night stay at the hotel.

GGuest UserI give this hotel four stars because of two things: the outdoor dining area with a sea-view and the friendly staff. I am glad I was there mostly during dry weather, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoor seating. However, the 15 minutes or so that I spent inside in the sitting area when it rained, it felt like sitting in an unkempt living room of a big family. It was indeed a family business and many people, possibly family members were helping out. They were all very friendly. The little pool was often full. There seemed to be many day-visitors and at times it was very loud. As for Wi-Fi, although they kept saying ”connect to D-link”, there was mostly no internet with that link. The rooms were small and dark and did not give a very clean feeling. My bed-sheets had blood stains from mosquito bites of the previous guest. The family seemed to be cutting corners in many things. Even the soap was a left-over last piece of what looked like the soap used for doing laundry. Maybe local tourists had no problem with this, but I found it rather unclean. I am glad I had the experience and I did enjoy having a drink or two by the seaside. So, I can forget about the not-so-good stuff in the hotel.

We stayed at the Africa Queen for two nights while visiting Somone. We had a great experience. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful (especially Papy at the pool bar), and the surrounding village and lagoon were interesting and fun to explore. There's a solid Dibi place on the corner just down the street. They had some English speaking staff which was an added bonus. We heard that the hotel had somewhat recently been renovated so that might account for some of the less the stellar older review / pictures.

This really is a lovely hotel most efficiently run by the Directrice - Stephanie - the gardens & pathways are between the buildings are immaculate & beautiful, the pool is superb & continuously skimmmed of leaves & insects. I had a suite on the top of a two storey building. White walls dark wood furniture, bedroom, bath room & sitting room - very spacious. Two televisions efficient air con & good shower. secure wall safe+excellent wifi. Breakfast is first class with omelettes made to order. Dinner was quite varied & sometimes the dishes were a little ambitious but always well presented & timely. Dinner was served at 8-00pm - not before - with an excellent cocktail bar that really served some very tasty fruity cocktails often prepared by the charming Abi. Every night there was entertainment -band , singer, local dancing & a mannequin parade showing off the outfits put together by the tailor in Neptune boutique. Every day various activities in the pool or ping pong etc. Most of the staff only speak french & almost all the guests were french. I loved my stay & am more than likely to return if in good physical shape.
