This was a perfect location to stay while visiting our son in Mt. Arlington. We had never been to New Jersey before. With the exception (unexplained..) of the fire alarm going off one night, this hotel was one of the QUIETEST places we've ever stayed. (Even though, I learned they had 3 wedding groups staying there). It's far back off the road, and next to a Hilton Homewood suites. The king-sized room was just right for 2 people. It has a pull out sofa but IMO (3) people would NOT be comfortable in the room, it's way too small. Very nice kitchen amenities (even a dishwasher), could allow 1-2 people to stay here several weeks if needed. We didn't use the pool (it has ALOT of restrictions during these Covid times). The room / hotel was impeccably clean. Very large parking lot (shared between the 2 hotels). Though the bathroom is small, due to the closet design, there's a long closet between the bathroom and the kitchen area (helping with air flow). Bed super comfortable and the shower was amazing. 2 ”less than great” things are: there's no housekeeping service during covid times (I did not want it DAILY, but believed it was 'on request'. ). You can get a towel refresh and shampoo, etc. but that's it. The breakfast (grab and go), like another writer mentioned, was just ...not good. The odd thing was that everything is individually wrapped (even the slices of bread to toast!) but: you're still touching the toaster handle, the microwave handle and buttons, etc. (doesn't make much sense). There were whole apples (maybe small fruit cups would be better) and the waffles did not taste good at all. Butter patties were frozen. Individual yogurts were a good idea, and the juice was good. Coffee is available 24/7. There were also some kind of breakfast sandwiches to ”nuke” but they didn't look good to me. IMO breakfast closed early on a weekend: 9am. A high point - the laundry room is very nice, very clean. But BE PREPARED with quarters -- it's $1.50 per load to wash or dry. (I always bring laundry pods and dryer sheets). Nearby: there is Rockaway Mall which (contrary to what another writer said) is really big (but fairly devoid of people). There are some restaurants around, and a Costo. But if you are used to buying alcohol / beer / wine etc. at a grocery store, you can't in NJ. We were dissappointed to find that the Shop Rite 'package store' section closed at 8pm on a Sunday. This hotel and the Hilton, do not have bars or restaurants on site. OVERALL -- very impressed with the hotel, and if you stay in Rockaway (not Dover), the area is very nice. We would 100% stay here again.
Had stayed at the Townplace Suites before when visiting family in this area. This time there was no availability there, so I booked the Homewood Suites for the 2 nights we were in town, even though I was aware the reviews for this hotel weren't as good. Of all the Homewood suites I stayed at over the years this one is by far the worst. Starting with check-in, the front desk clerk was very uninformative. No recognizing my Hilton Honors membership, no instructions on amenities or breakfast hours, etc. After settling in I went to the lobby to get some hot water for tea, and found the water was barely luke-warm. Heated it in the microwave in the room. Breakfast next morning was equally disappointing. This location doesn't have the belgian waffle maker that all other HW suites I've stayed at does. The usual omelettes/sausage selections were just as cold as the hot water was (again). We decided to eat breakfast at a nearby diner the next morning. Other things we noted: the drain under the sink was dripping water the first morning of our stay, and I noticed there was tape (not duct tape, brown tape) wrapped around the drain pipe leading to the trap! The shower curtain rod was badly bent, and the anchors at either end were loose in the wall. There were spackle spots next to each anchor, and I realized when I took a shower that the tub is so slippery many people must have grabbed the curtain instead of the safety bar, which explains why the anchors were pulled out of the wall! The front desk personnel was always someone different from Friday night to Sunday when we went to talk to someone, and nothing was ever fixed. This location is badly in need of renovation and upgrading. There needs to be an overhaul of personnel (in terms of continuity and wanting to help), and the food needs to be HOT. The cost for 2 nights was outrageous compared to the condition and service of this hotel, especially since we've experienced the Townplace Suites next door.
Conveniently located just off I-80 next to the Rockaway Townsquare mall and three miles from the Picatinny Arsenal military base, the Hilton Garden Inn offers all the comforts of home. Amenities include a fitness center, featuring a Peloton Bike with toe cages, an indoor pool, and a restaurant and bar serving delicious American fare. The hotel is 15 minutes from the International Trade Center, and within a 30-minute drive of Rock Island Lake Club, Perona Farms, and Bear Brook Valley.

The room is OK, that is, another building is far from the front desk, and there is no elevator on the second floor. On a hillside, the scenery is not bad. Close to the highway and convenient transportation.
Always my go to Location when I'm in the area. What I like the most is the easy access off of route 80, the parking lot is large enough to park oversized vehicles. The rooms have been updated, and the staff always will try to accommodate my requests. I've used the Ford room for my Company meetings the room is clean and ready when I arrive, Although the staff as changed over time. I do miss Danelle she worked the front desk on the evening shift she was great ! The gentleman on the front desk over night is pleasant I usually get a ”have a good day” from him when I'm sneaking out in the early morning. I did have an interaction recently with the young lady on the front desk with the dog. I was trying to get the dogs attention, she asked please don't talk to the dog and went on to tell me that her dog was a service animal. her tone seemed abrasive at first, then I realized there is a reason why she has the dog with her. I told her I was sorry and to have a good night. I would recommend this property to anyone.
Hotel is clean and new! I wish I could give them 5 stars for how pretty and clean it is) I reserved a room on my travels because they claimed they had EV chargers. But they only have Tesla chargers ( not sure if these are destination charges or superchargers) and even they were unusable as they were not unwrapped and connected yet. It took nearly two weeks to hear back from general manager, who was sympathetic but claimed it wasn’t in her justification. I asked that she share it with the owners as feedback. Incidentally, the front desk often goes unanswered. I wasted my reward points on this stay.
Our first stay at this Holiday Inn Express in Mount Arlington NJ this week was quite a pleasant surprise, in so many ways. The hotel facility could not be more welcoming: clean, spacious rooms, ultra-comfortable bedding, and a coffee urn in the foyer. The morning breakfast buffet was also a treat—ample hot and cold foods served in a spacious room. (The pool was temporarily closed, thanks to Dr. Fauci’s guff.) Not least of all, the staff was superb. It turns out we visited on the one day when most staff were away for their annual families outing on the shore, so the managers were running things. When we mentioned this to manager Linda Dora, she graciously explained to us that this hotel’s staff feel “like a family,” and this shows to us guests. Not every organization does this. We thank you for this great experience.
This review is only my experience after 3 weeks in this place. Not a good one.manager prefers work crews in the area opposed to single business people. Many things went wrong in my room as well as on the property however he always had some excuse. The straw that made me leave was that every weekend there were free for alls and no supervision. People would be drunk and smoking pot and noone in the hotel told them to stop. I was told that I would have a quiet apt for anger stay. Every weekend I got no sleep. One night 2 girls checked in at midnight and kept me up all night which caused me to miss a meeting. The sales woman told me there were no one bedrooms available that weekend so people had to be put in the room under me. Not true. I checked on line I was able to book 3 one bedrooms available. I would never check in with children or even business men. This place is good for truckers only.also truckers were washing their trucks in the small parking lot on weekends. All this place want is too fill rooms. They don't care with whom.
I showed up with my family to find out that when I booked online I had chosen the wrong room. I wanted a family suit when I returned and explained what I had wanted they said well that isn’t what you booked. The lady at counter said “we do not even offer a bed with three rooms. After I stood in lobby looking it up online and showing her she then decided that they did actually have a room that offered three beds but only one. It was available but they couldn’t honor the online price and it would be 270 vs 209 that was offered on choice hotels. They explained how prices change depending on availability and I could book online and get that price but I explain it couldn’t be booked because it was after midnight. They were absolutely unhelpful and rude. My family had booked 8 rooms in this hotel. My mom made several trips to be able to even get a key programmed correctly to open her room. I definitely will not be returning to a quality inn anytime soon they were very unhelpful and did there best to cheat people if given an opportunity .
