Casa Marbella

Nice, basic place for short term stay. Easy walk, 5 minutes from the main port with roller bags (they were not doing private pier drop off when I went). Staff is very responsive and helpful. It's right on the river so constant boat noise day and night, but this is outweighed by beautiful scenery and spectacular sunsets. The bathroom could have been cleaner - there were old soap pieces in the shower soap dish, the sink was gritty and I had no hot water despite following their written instructions.

A fabulous hotel that does exactly what is says - and a bit more! Having coffee and tea available on the terrace from 5.20am ahead of a 6am boat trip out was lovely and unexpected. The breakfast times are extended to take acount of early morning trips out which was great. A fridge was available on the terrace for all hotel users to use, which was great for putting a beer in, so it was ready ready when you came back from exploring! We used the tours arranged by the hotel and they were fabulous. Lewis, our guide was excellent and so knowledgeable. Plus the tours are great value and cheaper than others we looked at. All of the staff are lovely and we totally recommend Casa Marbella!

We stayed here three nights and we’re very happy with our choice. The casa has its own dock so super easy for boat pick ups and drop offs. The tours we took from their guide were worth every penny - thanks Luis for your wonderful service! Breakfast was tasty and we appreciated the use of the guest fridge , as well as all the chairs on the deck to watch the world go by. It is very hot in Tortuguero so our room with an a/c was much appreciated!

This property is in a great location and offers boat tours in the morning. We liked the hotel except there may have been an issue with the water we didn't ask why it only seemed to offer a cold shower. Not sure if it had to do with the electrical outages they had while we were visiting.

Great location with its own dock for transport to/from La Pavona. Good breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. Simple but clean room. Ours had air conditioning but not all do so it's a good thing to confirm if you need it. Tortuguero does get hot and humid.

Hotel has a fantastic view that you can enjoy throughout the day and where you eat breakfast, which was also very good (it varies every day, e.g., pancakes, scrambled eggs). The room mostly has everything that you need (no safe). Our room specifically was directly next to the Main Street, so it sometimes was noisy but nothing extreme. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful guesthouse located right on the riverbank so imagine having breakfast in this place 😍. We highly recommend this place: friendly staff, spacious rooms with warm water and airco, tasty breakfast, fridge, microwave,…anything you could ever need on your stay in Tortuguero. And the boat drops you of right at the front door, do I need to say more!

Great hotel experience for the cost. We were greeted in La Pavona by a hotel rep who was able to book our excursions that we wanted before we even arrived at the hotel in Tortuguero. Our taxi boat dropped us off right at the dock and check in was easy. *Note cash only payments* Room was clean and spacious - we had one full bed, one twin, we kept the screened windows open and used the ceiling fan and oscillating fan provided and we were very comfortable to sleep. Beautiful sitting area on the river to watch the sun set - this is where the free breakfast & coffee are served. Potable water bottle filling station was very convenient. Free breakfast star was the fruit plate and fresh orange juice but also comes with an "entree" - eggs & toast day one and pancakes day two. As mentioned, we booked excursions through the hotel, we did the night turtle tour with Nelba who was very informative and friendly. We also booked a kayak tour which ended up being a private trip with Manuel Mora who was an exceptional guide and let us set the pace for a peaceful early morning adventure enjoying the water and wildlife. Easy booking for return taxi boat pick up and again came right to the hotel dock.
