This hotel was absolutely stunning. I was on the fence booking it because of the photos here (could go either way), and some of the reviews. when I arrived, the property was absolutely overwhelming in its beauty. The property is on a very large piece of land, mostly dedicated to a nature preserve with winding pathways. My room, which I discovered was the smallest of the six, was still very large, and beautifully appointed. the art, architecture, and design of the property was well thought out down to the last detail. the location was so pristine, I wish I had stayed more than the two nights. The staff was excellent- from the front desk staff who connected us with an amazing tour guide (who spoke flawless English from LA), provided excellent pool-side and restaurant service, and always made us feel welcome. Dinner at their on-site restaurant was delicious. As for the noise complaints of some guests, it seems that a nearby property is an event center- we walked to the back and saw a party going-on, but didn't hear any noise in the room, other than the ever-present fireworks due to a Mexican holiday (common in most parts of Mexico that aren't Cancun). The location could not have been better- we were a two block walk from the town square. The only disappointment was their Chilaquiles rojos. I love chilaquiles, and I thought their's left something to be desired. I have a dream of forcing my extended family to return with me and renting out the entire hotel. I've recommended it to all of my friends who live nearby in Guadalajara and Ajijic as a perfect getaway.
