YHA Conwy

Was a last minute booking, but weighed up premier/travel inns option. But glad opted for YHA as was family friendly, great communal rooms, good to see other families using this facility. Great location for local beaches and 30 minutes away from Green Wood family fun park. A great introduction to youth hostelling to the next generation, plus "Tiger 🐅" loved his stay 👍😀.

Great place for our group. Very spacious and well located for train station, town and walks. Huge and wonderful views from the 360 degree windows. Easy access to Snowdonia, Anglesea, etc. We are returning for another visit, as we like it so much. The price is reasonable too.

Do not stay here. We checked in at 5pm on a Sunday evening to be informed card machine is not working but food would be served until 8pm. On that basis, we walked down in to town with two young children to get cash with the intention of purchasing food on site. Having returned to site we asked to order food at 6.25pm. They refused to do so because a group that hadn't even arrived would take precedence, even when I explained we had no other food. The site is delapitated and unkempt: the room stinks of unwashed feet, the taps leak, the hallways smell of sewerage, and the internal and external security doors were unlocked throughout. We've been here two hours and I can't wait to leave.

Cleanliness in washroom should be better and basic stuff like shampoo and towel should had been provided.

My best friend and I stayed at YHA Conwy for 2 nights between 4/9/23 and 6/9/23. We found the hostel spotlessly clean, and the food was good. We both slept well during our stay. We booked a private room with an ensuite bathroom. The staff were friendly and professional and the hostel prices overnight were very good value for money. The hostel was around half an hour from Snowdonia and within easy walking distance from the town centre. Great views all round of both Llandudno and Conwy. We would both like to return despite the long drive from Dundee (355 miles) and would recommend this hostel to anyone. The hostel also has a games room and bar . The only regret we have is we could have chosen to stay longer.

We arrived on our motorcycles to a well located hostel, perched high above Conwy. We were made welcome from the onset with a team of staff who were happy and helpful. We booked the breakfast for both mornings and it was well stocked and tasty too. The ensuite double bunk room was what I'd expct from YHA, clean, compact and just enough. Thannks for a memorable stay, of which I'd highly recommend. (Those with disability would probably need to drive to get anywhere from the hostels high location, but those able to walk would find easy access to the towns walls and the downhill walk to town).

We stayed at YHA Conwy for 4 nights during the summer holidays. It is in a lovely location (albeit up a steep hill). The staff were all really helpful and friendly. We stayed in a private room which was nice however, even with the windows open, it was soooooo hot!!! Thankfully staff did have a fan we could use. My only let down was that the room we were allocated didn't have the nice beds you see in the pictures. It was two wooden bunkbeds which made a lot of noise if someone was moving/tossing and turning on the top bunk. Noise loud enough to wake the rest of the room up. We ended up moving the mattresses from the top onto the floor. This worked and everyone got a good nights sleep (apart from the heat).

This is a great hostel in a lovely location. The hostel boasts panoramic views from the dining area - Llandudno on one side and the mountains of Snowdonia on the other, and there is is a viewing platform that's also a breakout games area / reading room. Zac and Daisy from the YHA team in particular took the time to get to know us, which we noticed and appreciated. The menu is now common to all youth hostels so don't expect surprises, but its ok. You can get breakfast and an evening meal here, and you can decide on the day. The self catering kitchen here is large and well equipped, with an outside seating area for alfresco dining on a budget! Alcohol from a local brewery is served until 10pm, but the hostel is within 10 minutes of the lovely, historic Conwy, which has lots of pubs that serve later than that. While we read the hostel is closed during the day, we found it to be open all the time - which is useful if you need some downtime or that famous welsh weather does its worse! There's little remarkable, or negative about the rooms - they were clean and large. Bunk beds were comfortable and all rooms seemed to be ensuite. You use a key card to buzz in and out, so its hassle free and you can't lock yourself out (the staff were also relaxed about giving replacement cards when our kids lost them somewhere in the building). Ours was on the second floor, and while the large window had views of the bay (Rm 23 on the 2nd floor has the best views, of the castle), it did make it a warm room so we mostly left the curtains closed. As a base, its ideal for exploring the town- a few minutes downhill to get to the town walls from where you can reach the marina or the castle in no time, enjoying great views every step of the way. You can also eat very well at the nearby Library and Cultural Centre. There's ample free car parking - a few spaces directly outside the hostel and more a few paces down the hill. If you turn left out of the hostel rather than right towards the town, you can do a memorable walk up Conwy Hill which has amazing views and can be done easily by families in a couple of hours (just look out for the quite hard to spot footpath sign on the right hand side which takes you over a field to some woods at the base of the hill). While Conwy is great, compact and full of interest, you are about 30-40 minutes from Anglesey and Snowdonia. There are local beaches, but avoid Llandudno as the council has covered it in horrible rocks, effectively ruining it (the pier and cable car are well worth visiting). The thing that sets youth hostels apart is the chance to meet and make friends with other visitors. Its a safe place, so kids can roam freely - there's a games room (with pool table and table football - both 50 pence a game), a TV room with some board games and outside there are tables and a very climbable tree.
