Hit and miss. Good breakfast and dinner. Broken window so issues with being too hot. Very bright lights shining into room. Despite dealing with hikers, packed lunch in an ******* way so it burst open in the pack. Not better from cafe next door despite telling them we needed to put the lunch in a backpack. Harried owner. Ok beds with hard pillows. Very limited space to put stuff in bathroom.

Beautiful small family hotel , very welcoming. Fantastic location with a gorgeous view of the church from our Lakeview room . Rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Food was lovely & good quality . Lovely walks nearby. Perfect for a relaxing break

The most peaceful and serene place I have ever been. Delicious food with outstanding service. Beauty all around and much comfort in the hotel dining room bar and seating areas. The fresh local foods set the bar for the rest of our trip. All the staff were so engaging and attentive.

This is my 4 th visit to gougon barra hotel. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Katy is an amazing chef. Neil and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. It really is a piece of heaven. Fabulous walks and views. Lovely family time. Really wonderful visit

Mind-blowing and most unexpected treat, both in terms of hospitality, scenery and food. Can honestly say the food offering was the best we've enjoyed in Ireland. Katy's subtle use of plants and flavours, take the dishes to a whole new level. The cabbage was sublime, as well as the lemon posset and apple crumble, to name but a few. The dining room looks out over the lake and there is a genuine, unrushed air about the service which compliments the wider ambience of the natural area and surroundings. Spotlessly clean, interesting art and old menus on the walls and ample common spaces for relaxing. A totally unique setting. Thank you Katy, Neil and Ali and rest of team...we'll be back!

Hello Katy and Neil and your amazing team , On behalf of myself and my mum we would both like to thank you for your wonderful hospitality during our stay on Wednesday night. The whole team made us extremely welcome , the friendliness of the staff including both of you was totally superb, we will definitely be back again in the future , the food was stunning, room was so beautiful with the lake view . Everything about your stunning hotel was absolutely amazing. Thank you for a wonderful and very special experience. My mum may just write another poem soon .

This hotel is a true gem! The grounds are beautiful and just what you would think of for a stay in Ireland. We took a long morning walk down the road into Gougane Barra Forest Park where we saw sheep and wild rabbits along the way. The warm welcome by the owners and staff was incredible. The rooms are decorated warm and cozy. We opened our window to look right out onto the sheep enclosure. The food was amazing! The staff was very attentive. The little pub inside the hotel was fun! A nightcap by the fireplace to end our day was relaxing. So happy we ended our tour of Ireland at this delightful hotel!

You could go here for the amazing setting, the delightful snug bar, or the terrific staff. All of those are top-notch. But above that, go for the food. Oh My Gosh. If the salad dressing and side potatoes and still on our minds, imagine what the rest of the meal was like!

The most delightful stay, and my trip to Ireland! The views were gorgeous. The area is tranquil and mystical. The staff at the hotel is delightful and the food was the most amazing gourmet every night and wonderful full Irish breakfast every morning.
