Front desk was not hospitable during check-in. They gave me a lumpy bed with wrinkled sheets that looked like a 6- year- old made the bed. Balcony had no table. (Put your food on the ground). Balcony rails were bulky and white (hard to see any view through)
After midnight when I got in bed the SHEETS were wet. I called front desk and complained. They cut me off and brought me new sheets and RUDELY told me I need to change out the sheets myself. I changed sheets and I went to sleep. I left the wet comforter on the floor since they didn't bring me a new one. I woke up hours later to wet sheets AGAIN....now the bed was wet, my hair wet. ALL my belongings damp or wet. I had to get on the floor bc of the damp mattress. Apparently the AC was putting out too much humidity. I went down and complained to the front desk. They apologized and told me to request a refund from trip.com since that's who I booked with. I asked did they note my issue in the system. Dude said YES. I immediately filed complaint with Trip.com and Double Tree said they won't give me a refund because I didn't complain to the hotel. LIES! I spoke to the front desk TWICE about the wet issue. NEVER AGAIN.
Their bay beach is brown, nasty and full of jelly fish lined all down the shore. I saw over 40 jellyfish one morning. No joke. I'm told that's where they hatch. It's not a real beach. It's the bay. Go to Padre Island a few miles away with clear beaches (whitecap Beach is the best) or Emerald Beach Resort a few miles away with indoor pool and more of a family feel. I'm done with DoubleTree after they lied saying I never complained about my room.
