This is certainly the cheapest hotel in the area. But it is more a Bed and Breakfast than hotel, as it is closed 12-4pm, there are no phones or room service and the 2 star rating seems generous as the room decor and facilities are tired and dated. We had a quadruple family room and a double room, both overlooked the noisy alley way to the rear which many over reviewers have referred to. The noise may be unavoidable but a net curtain would have at least afforded some privacy on a first floor room overlooked by other buildings, passing delivery lorries and staff. There was also an icy draft that the cheap main curtain didn’t protect from as it didn’t cover the window. The cleanliness of the hotel was very poor - when we checked in we found sweet wrappers by the side of the bed from the previous occupiers, there was rubbish left in the corridors for long periods of time and dirty mops and buckets. Not surprisingly the corridor on the first floor stank - we complained about this and nothing was done so we had to live with it for the duration of our stay. The day we were leaving someone turned up allegedly to deal with it. The same smell pervaded our bathroom, seemingly something to do with drains. Nothing was done whilst we were there and no attempt at compensating us in any way was made. The electric sockets in our children’s room stopped working, again - nothing was done and after a day we reset the fuses ourselves, with no apology or recognition from the staff. On our first night a fire alarm went off while we were in the bar having drinks and snacks which had to be abandoned as the noise went on for so long; again no apology or offer to remove anything from our bill, until on principal we asked for at least the 2 beers we didn’t drink to be taken off at the end of our stay. The breakfast buffet ends at 10am but by 9am most of it is gone. We paid approximately £500 a night per room for 7 nights, so perhaps comparatively cheap but definitely misleading in terms of what we got for our money. Nowhere does it say the hotel is closed 12-4pm that I can see. There is no where to hang out apart from the bar and the billiards on offer is the table the breakfast is served on which is repurposed of an evening and is too small to use a cue in. The staff are seasonal and a mixed bag, Lucile was friendly and great fun. However on check in after a long journey we were greeted by a girl who had us down for 1 room for 2 nights as opposed to 2 rooms for 7 nights…this took some time to resolve. The location is good, short walk to ski hire, bus stop and pistes. The ski room is a cold basement room that is never locked, nothing dries as it isn’t heated and it feels like an SAS interrogation cell. Their upselling and invoicing facilities are excellent - in the months prior to our arrival we received multiple blanket emails - 2 or 3 times a week, offering insurance deals. The one time we did contact the hotel about a possible change of rooms by ‘phone, they were slow
