Blackwell Grange Hotel

The hotrl is beautiful and the workers are nice, but the sheets and bed covers are not quite clean.

A little gem, great level of finish and lovely staff. Great price, highly recommend

Great stay, staff attentive, room cosy and had all amenities that we needed. Bed was soft and comfy had a great night's sleep, breakfast was nice and hot. Would come back again next time we are up seeing family. Parking was ideal and not far from where we needed to be

We were disappointed with our 2 night stay on the dining plan at Blackwell Grange. We paid £20 extra to upgrade to a premier double room and were disappointed to find two single beds pushed together with no headboard. The room was pretty basic, no bath but had a nice shower. The staff were friendly and polite however the food was not very nice, they have recently changed the menu but left the old menu up in reception, we weren’t made aware of the changes until we sat down in the restaurant to find that the meals we had chosen had been removed from the menu. The food itself was pretty poor, chips weren’t thoroughly cooked and still hard on the inside. Breakfast was not the best and I found hair in my egg. Lastly, the leisure centre is very dated and in need of a renovation. The lockers in the changing rooms were mostly jammed. There was a sauna in each changing room that was out of use. The pool is a lot smaller in person than it looks on the photos. For the price we paid we feel we were let down and would not return to Blackwell Grange in the future.

Called in on the off chance that they had a table for two for Sunday lunch, so glad they had because, Wow……………. The carvery was delicious with tender roast meat & plenty of well cooked vegetables followed by a ‘help yourself’ desert table (the crumble was divine). The staff were lovely & very attentive, and the recently decorated dining room is tasteful & comfortable.

We held our wedding on 16th March 24. From start in planning with Deborah. Nothing was to much trouble even on day when she had loads of meetings. To the call from Dean to talk about menu. The night before all room were very clean. On the day we meet Margaret who was a star and the rest of the staff were very efficient. The tables were set to the way we had asked. The food was out of this wold from start to finish. The dessert for myself and my wife was beautiful. On the Sunday morning breakfast was best we have had from the hot breakfast to the continental items. It was lovely meeting dean and una. There are credit to the group. I wish you to pass my kind regards and my thanks to all staff.

Lots of positives. Room was though a bit tired let down by a very aged bathroom , please the paper bathmat was the final straw , pool very tired. Delightful staff and fabulous dinners both nights and a good breakfast redeemed it and got it up to 4 …

This review is purely about the "leisure" facilities. The place needs condemning. The lockers are rusty, the place is dirty. The pool area it's self is ok but everything else is tired old and needs replacing. The staff used towels out of the bin to mop the floor with his foot. We walked in and walked back out. If your planning to use these facilities as part of a relaxing weekend then don't!

This is a 2 part review….. This review is for the room and bar facilities. The second review is for the leisure facilities (it would be unfair the link the two 😳). We arrived after booking the penthouse suite to find it has been taken out of service so was moved the room 611 which is one of the carriage suites. We arrived for our 2 night stay and were greeted in a lovely manor with an explanation about the room (2 glasses of Prosecco was gifted to us in a voucher for the inconvenience). We arrived at the room to find it was freezing so returned to reception to be told the heating was on. We checked the radiators and ensured they were on but no heat. We decided to head out for dinner and when we returned at 10.30 the room was still just as cold. We found an oil filled radiator in the wardrobe and put that on. After explaining to reception the duty manager attended and explained the heating is set for certain times and was now “off”. We explained it was too cold to stay and unless it could be resolved we would be returning home. A second oil filled radiator was found and the heating was over ridden / boosted by the duty manager to ensure the room became warm. Credit to the manager as she called 30mins later to check it was warming up. It took 2 hours to fully warm up. We had a lovely night last sleep, bathroom is lovely, plenty of hot water and the lounge area in the room is well furnished. Decent size tv and nicely decorated. Breakfast the following morning was hot, plenty of choice, friendly staff, clean and tidy.
