Great location and customer service. Staying in an old castle has its draw backs ( no elevator with room on 4th floor) , smaller rooms but well worth the experience. Food was good with a nice selection. The bar is a fantastic scotch bar with very comfortable seating and a**osphere with a great fireplace. Staff was superb and can tell they are trained well and enjoy their job. Enjoyed our stay here very much and will be back agin(. 3rd time here)

An amazing experience in a part of what was a "real castle". We were given a warm greeting on arrival and personally show to our room that was up several flights of stairs. The room was spacious, clean with a pleasant garden view. There is a small bar/ whisky tasting area. There is also a cozy seating area around a fire. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner and breakfast the next morning. Dunrobin Castle is just a short drive away. We would certainly return.

Expensive but jaded family rooms which smelt musty and not very clean, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was an impressive spread of hot and cold food, continental, cereals, pastries, fruit and more. Overpriced but a**ospheric as one would expect for a building of its age!

My wife and I visited Dornoch and thought we would have a cosy drink in the Castle Hotel bar. When we arrived there was nobody behind the bar so I waited 5 minutes before a waitress approached me without saying anything , she simply brushed past me although I was invisible and then went off elsewhere. Shortly after the barman appeared and barely acknowledging me, started serving drinks for other people. I know bar staff are busy, but I would have expected some sort of welcome or be with you shortly sir, but nothing. So we took our business elsewhere and certainly won’t be returning.

Lovely old castle turned hotel. The rooms were comfortable and had nice touches like robes and slippers. The whiskey room was very cozy and the food in the restaurant met all our needs. The employees there were friendly and helpful, we had an issue with locking the door to one of our rooms and they helped resolve this instantly. I would definitely go back.

We were really looking forward to staying at the Castle Hotel, the most expensive we booked on our trip. Our room was ok, but needed some tlc, a few stains on the carpet, tear in the duvet cover and one of the easy chairs lacked any stuffing! Dinner choice was very limited, fish and chips disappointing although the fish special was good. Breakfast buffet was fine but lacked many hot options. Coffee was excellent. Worst of all was the fire alarm at 1am apparently caused by a spider, so an awful sleep.

Visited the castle bar and restaurant many times when visiting as the staff and food are amazing. First time staying and I must say first class service from staff. Room and a**osphere were fantastic. Whisky bar is sublime what choices, staff and locals were excellent at helping me pick different malts most of closed distillery’s. Also great to walk along the road and visit the distillery and the fantastic staff at Thompson Bros shop were they had a few bottles open to try.

A lovely hotel. A fab room with massive bed overlooking the rear garden. A £2,50 breakfast is ridiculous. We had a full continetal and bacon eggs etc. plus tea and coffee. A nice friendly bar and staff. A good location in the town right across the road from the cathedral.

Spent Easter at the beautiful Dornoch Castle. Staff were attentive as soon as we arrived. Were shown around the Castle and then to our double room which was lovely and clean. Bed very comfortable. Restaurant staff were friendly. Continental breakfast was lovely. Selection of croissants, breads, meats, salmon, fruit, cheeses and cereals. Also bacon and eggs. Fruit juices and teas and coffees. Lunch and evening meals were great and reasonable prices. Whisky bar had a varied selection of whiskies. And bar staff very knowledgeable. Bar also had wines, spirits and beers. Staff could not do enough to help. Nothing was too much trouble. We are going to book another stay this year.
