We were walking the West Highland Way and were tired after our first leg. We were warmly greeted by Stuart who checked us in quickly. Lovely atmosphere in the bar. Our room was quite small, overlooking the main street, but it was quiet. It had a dramatic antler lamp shade, very Scottish. We had a lovely pint of Avalanche, before tucking into a delicious fish and chips. The batter was so light and the fish beautifully cooked. The mushy peas were thick and tasty while the home made chips were really nice (but far too many, I’d like to meet the person who could eat them all) Breakfast was mixture of self service for the cereal and waitress service for well cooked good quality hot food. It was a brilliant start to our walk. (If only the Rowandennan Inn, our hotel the following night could take a few tips of how to provide a great B&B experience)
