We arrived at the property after roughly 13 hours on the road. We gave the host 1hr notice via phone call (as requested), and once arriving at the property, were greeted by her two dogs, one of which was barking constantly and extremely on edge. She stated that he is just wanting to greet us and is a puppy. One thing I also noted upon arriving was a horrid smell where the car was supposed to be parked (my window was down and I smelled it instantly). After about 2 mins of the host's dog barking, I was greeted by the host. I asked if I have parked the car in the correct spot, to which she replied "that's where it should be." My partner was standing outside the car on the passenger side, awaiting the host to gather her dogs and place them somewhere inside or somewhere safe so we could safely transport our dog to our little B&B. I tried to explain this to the host and she demanded that her dog "would not let that happen" and that we must put our dog down on the ground, unleashed so that her dogs can greet her. Given that we had been driving all day, unfamiliar territory and a dog that seemed very on edge and aggressive, we explained that we were not comfortable doing so. I did my best to explain that, and went to go and tell my partner. When I went to tell my partner, the host said "just stand here and talk to me, don’t walk away". After this, the host walked over to the passenger side rear door (where my partner was standing) with our dog inside the car, who was extremely distressed by this point as the dog was still barking constantly. The host then had the torch in my partner's face and was trying to tell us that we must place our dog on the ground unleashed, because if we were to place her on a lead, she would be at a disadvantage when trying to protect us. That made us feel very uneasy straight away. The host then stated "you did not tell me that you were bringing a dog" which we definitely did twice and also gave notice as well. Mind you, this was supposed to be a "pet friendly" B&B. After reasoning for about another minute, and explaining that we were not comfortable letting our dog off the leash (this property was massive and it was 6.30PM at night and dark), she agreed and said that we can place our dog on the ground. Upon opening the door to get our dog, her dog then snuck in between my partners legs and jumped up and aggressively tried to attack our dog, which absolutely terrified our dog who is absolutely timid and harmless. When this happened, the host did not attempt to intervene or discipline her dog, instead yelling at my partner, "YOU DID NOT FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS, I DID NOT SAY OPEN THE DOOR YET." We have paid money to stay at this B&B and I do not think we should not instructions on how to get our dog out of the car so we can stay? As soon as this happened, I was extremely blown away and lost for words. I could tell instantly that my dog was terrified (I have never heard her bark and fret so much in over 3 yea
