Travelling several times a month with work you never know what you will find when you first arrive at a hotel. This is a real gem, a lovely little hotel in a small village. The rooms are either in the original villa, and have lots of character, or in the purpose-built new wing looking over the garden. I was in the villa. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet & with lots of space. The bed was comfortable. There is parking available on site. The staff were friendly and efficient. Good value. The restaurant had a 'surprise menu', where you say how many courses you want, whether you want the vegetarian options, and if there are any foods you don't like, and you are brought your 'surprise' dishes. Excellent food, really good quality.

Breakfast buffet was good. Everything is there, including croissants, yoghurt, scrambled eggs and bacon. Rooms are fine and spacious. We stayed on the ground floor and had a seat by the front door (unfortunately we didn't use it because of the weather). Beds are good; therefore we slept well. Our room had a bath, but we didn't use it. The shower was fine. The extras in the room made the stay extra pleasant: ability to make coffee and tea. Every day the coffee and tea was replenished and there were clean cups. And the fridge in the room was a outcome to be able to keep some food cool! Some improvement tips for the hotel: Here and there we found a hair in the bathroom that could not be ours (...). And a little table or something to put the toilet bags on would have been handy. Now they we had to place them on the floor. WiFi was regularly dropped. Therefore we sometimes had no connection at all with the 'outside world'; also because the region is poorly covered with 4G due to the nearby radio observatory of Westerbork, which need to be free of any radio waves.

The chateau is necessarily located in a park, decorated and lighted by Christmas time and is already mediated by the ruling/festival atmosphere. You can walk and load up just before the main entrance (it is a pleasant way to help), the parking is only a few steps away. A cozy bar area invites to drink stylishly. The restaurant area is well equipped and decorated. After a bike trip from Lelystad to Steenwijk I had a room in this hotel. Wonderful room very good bed, beautiful sanitary and a spacious breakfast enough. The next day after a bike trip in the surroundings, I could still dress in this hotel. Good and good staff.
