Travelodge Edinburgh Central Waterloo Place

My wife and I recently stayed at the Edinburgh Travel Lodge. It's a Travel Lodge, so there's not a lot to expect, but the room was clean and recently remodeled so it was nice. My review is really a 5 star review because of the staff. My wife and I talked with Paulo, a front desk attendant about places to eat and things to do in Edinburgh, as we had very little time available. Through his advice we had a great experience. Great food and drinks close to the hotel, as well as the bus tour around Edinburgh, and to top it off a recommendation to see Colton Hill and the monuments on it. The hotel was in the middle of a refit & our newly refurbed room was lovely and clean, very comfortable, nice and quiet too even though it's right in the city centre at the end of Princes Street. Such a great location, easy walking distance to both Old and New Town, Princes Street shops, Omni, Waverley Station etc. and well connected for trams/buses to get out and about. Cafes/bars nearby for breakfast/dinner etc. (great if you don't fancy the famous Travelodge breakfast bag option!) The staff were really friendly and very welcoming, price was pretty reasonable too for a stay in Central Edinburgh. Would choose again.

The hotel was in a great location in central Edinburgh. Paolo was very pleasant, polite and accommodating. He arranged for my friend and I to have rooms next to each other. The room was spotless and lovely and quiet with no passing traffic. The bed was comfy but I found the pillows a bit hard. I’d definitely stay there again. Thanks Paolo.

I was quite amazed at not only how busy Edinburgh was for this time of year but at the prices being charged for hotel rooms. Imagine my delight at finding this little gem! Maybe I should really be keeping this one secret?! Room only, no frills ..... lovely little room with en-suite shower, very comfortable bed, quiet and cosy, (a plus for the 4 seasons in one day that is the usual weather offering in Scotland). Tea & coffee making available in the room, mini kettle, with more consumables available from reception. Use of hairdryer if needed, offered at reception. Vending machine for desperation, but not far from restaurants and local shops. All Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel was super clean, easily accessible and I will definitely be looking there first for my next visit. No spa, or sprawling entry but perfect for my needs. This stay was for business, but if you don't mind the room only option, and dont need a dance floor in your bedroom, this little gem is perfectly adequate for longer breaks too.

Airline Bus from Edinburgh airport every 30 mins, £8 anytime return, stops just near Waverley station and only about 250m from the hotel. My first room was on a level reached by 30 stairs (not good for a 78 year old) but the hotel was full so Mr T on reception changed it to a much better one the next day and carried my bag there for me. Squeaky clean and a very comfortable bed. Very helpful and friendly. He even fixed a problem with my phone connection to the internet! Shops and restaurants close by and walking distance to all the sights. I would highly recommend this Travelodge and give a big thank you to Mr T and the other staff who made me so welcome.

The beds are very comfortable, showers are great, and staff is beyond wonderful. If you are greeted by Mr. T, you’re in the best hands. He’s s SOO kind and always has a warm smile in his face. The location is SUPER convenient to everything. Waverly train station is across the street. There’s multiple bus stops within a block, and the airport is less than 1/4 mile away. It’s an easy walk to Old Town and an easy walk to New Town.

The location is very strategic. It is just 5 min walk from Waverley Train Station. There are bus stops in front of the hotel too. Walking distance to old town n carlton hill. Short walk to St James Square. Room, bathroom, bed linen were clean though a bit small. The only setback was the floor has a squeaking sounds. Front desk staff are mainly friendly except one which told me she is a hotel staff not tour agency when i asked her any near by attraction.

Paulo went above and beyond to make our stay great! He was a friendly face at the front desk, always welcoming us, providing local recommendations, and going above and beyond to meet our needs. He asked my name and remembered it throughout the length of our stay. It was nice to feel so welcomed while visiting!

Perfect location, just a 2min walk from Waverley and city centre. The Room was very basic and a bit tired on the decor but fine if you just want to sleep and shower for a night. Shower wasn’t great but ok if there for one night. Luggage room and friendly staff (Paulo)
