Destiny Student Meadow Court - Campus Accommodation

Excellent location. Clean room and decent sized. Shared areas smell of damp. Good shared cooking space but no pots or pans. There is zero sound proofing! You can hear every sound from other rooms. Floorboards creak in every part of the accommodation. Very noisy outside until 1:30 am. Lots of guests hanging around to check in/make phone calls/smoke. I had an issue at check in with providing photographic ID. I had booked on a 3rd party website and there is no mention of this. Was advised it was in the T&C’s but cannot see any mention of it. Due to my advancing years, this is not something I carry but with the help of staff it was rectified. Check in was quite a long process but staff are very nice.

We booked at Meadow Court because it was the only place I could find in August in Edinburgh that was within walking distance of the Fringe Festival and wasn't going to break our budget. It's made very clear when you book you're staying in student housing. And for student housing, it's really nice- very clean, room is a decent size, and there were enough bathrooms so that when someone took over the bathroom closest to us for an hour-long shower (dude, whoever you were, not cool), I was able to find an available one easily. The room was warm; opening the window was enough for us, but others might want to take advantage of getting a fan at check in (for a deposit). You have to rent towels if you don't bring your own, but they let you know that ahead of time and it's not a lot; the extra space in my backpack was worth the $. Communication with the facility ahead of time is excellent and you can check in online before arrival so the actual physical check-in process is a breeze (and the desk staff were SOOOO nice; we really enjoyed chatting with them). The bed was a captain's bed, so it was hard, and the pillow was very thin, but I slept fine (my roommate was a little sore the 2nd day, so if you need a plusher bed, this may not be the place for you). If you don't need an elevator, and are the kind of sightseers who leave in the morning and don't get back until you're ready for bed, this is a very economical way to stay in Edinburgh, especially to see the Fringe Festival. It's for over 18s only, so not a family option, but I would certainly stay there again if traveling solo or with other adults. There's a kitchen available; we didn't use it as we were gone all day anyway, Oh! And The Meadows made for a beautiful stroll in the morning on out way to go do things; very nice having that so close.

Cheapest place available to us during the Fringe but surprisingly good. Sharing 2 bathrooms with the 5 rooms in our flat was not ideal but that is reflected in the price. The shared kitchen wasn't an issue as all we did was a light breakfast and made tea. The room was more than adequate, modern and very clean (as was the shared bathroom which was constantly cleaned). Staff were very helpful and friendly. We would certainly go back due to the good value.

The place is close to the city center (4-5 bus stations). There are nice coffee houses and shops close by. There is a park and playground for children at the end of the street. I liked the common room, where you could meet other guests and find some board games and a TV. One "But" - thin walls in the rooms.

I stayed in this accomodation for 2 nights. Friendly and excellent service from all staff. If you travel with limited budget, meadow court is one of the best options. The toilets and bathrooms are shared but the facilities and very clean and tidy. Overall, this is an excellent accomodation if you want to have a temporate stay.

Grubby and poorly maintained accommodation, walls and furniture were surface cleaned (wiped over with a spray and a cloth) but not properly cleaned, with evidence of heavy use over time e.g. finger marks, scuffing, grease etc which could easily be cleaned with the correct cleaning materials. There were no mattress or pillow protectors under the bed linen, which I would expect to be standard, in particular at this price point. Communal areas, especially bathroom and toilet areas, were not cleaned daily; every 2 days at best, which for an area with up to 8 different people using is concerning and unhygienic. There was no provision of a bathmat, or a mop to use to protect and clean the wet bathroom floors.
