This is our 4th time back to the resort. Every time I go back, I’m reminded why. Let’s start off with the beach…. Like wow! Crystal clear water, an amazing reef that surrounds the beach, the kids were in that water from sunrise to sunset. The food…. No complaints at all…. My favorite is the restaurant on the beach. The food is amazing, lots of variety and the staff…. Well I absolutely have to mention JoseMiguel, Francisco and Yohania…. They were absolutely amazing. Why? Well because although they are working, they serve you because they want too, not just because they have too. There was never a no, there was never “oh we don’t have that”, they went out of their way to make us happy. What can be better than that? I really didn’t go to the pool much because that beach was all I wanted however, the pool is very clean and the pool bar was great as well. The rooms: they could use a little updating. The beds are not the most comfortable and a little hard but not manageable. The furniture could be updated but my attitude is that I’m really only in the room to shower and sleep so that’s not a deal breaker for me. The check in process was great and I have to mention Victor because he was truly helpful in accommodating some of our requests for rooms. The nightlife is great as well, lots of shows and little one shows as well. It’s a great resort for families! Overall I STILL rate it a 5. I will be going back. Las Terrenas is my happy place and this resort has won my loyalty! I hope this review helps those thinking about going…. I absolutely love it and so does my family.

A vacation to repeat. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very nice, the hotel has several buffet options as well as restaurants. The rooms are well prepared although they need some remodeling. The beaches are beautiful. Thank you for all your attention, we would definitely return once again.Thanks RD.

This is the 3rd time visiting the Bahia Grand El Portillo, however this time was special as we celebrated my mums 85th birthday and my son and granddaughter also joined us along with a close couple. We were not disappointed and received warm greetings by the staff who remembered us - felt like coming home. The resort is well maintained with nice grounds, extremely clean and an abundance of food and beverage choices. Our rooms had all the key amenities, good A/C, and comfortable beds. The beach is beautiful and you can take long walks in both directions. Swimming was excellent with clear water and sandy bottom. I certainly saw more entertainment options this year and lots going on if you want to participate. This is a hidden gem in Samana but it is becoming more popular. I would not hesitate to recommend the resort and are looking forward to going back. The staff are very welcoming and I would like to recognise the following staff: Francisco and Yolanda at the beach lunch area, Natty and Jesse at the main breakfast buffet, Pablo the Manager of the Restaurants, Martina at the Sportsbar, Julian at the Privelege Beach area and Zoraida, Walkins and Alfredo at the Privelege Concierge. There are many others that I have forgotten their names. Thanks for making our stay special.

We had so much fun at this resort. Not too big Easy to find everything. Food is really good and rooms are really great. Very very clean resort. It’s a beautiful place to get some « real » vacations. Lots of animations. This was a perfect trip. Definitely go back.

The Bahia Principe team always makes us feel like family they are so helpful and friendly ! The beach on this property is beyond amazing great for both swimming and amazing for snorkeling so many reefs . The food is fresh and delicious as well . I truly enjoy this property

My husband and I celebrated our wedding with 115 family and friends on July of 2019 at Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo. That celebration was above and beyond all of our dreams. The customer service and attention to every detail went above and beyond. We planned on returning very soon after, but a world pandemic and other life events kept us away longer than we planned. This year five years later we finally returned and found a resort renewed, modernized but still keeping the charm we loved. I would say the absolutely biggest plus of the Gand Bahia Principe El Portillo is the amazing beach where it is the ONLY resort. It only has small vacation homes on either side. The water is calm and clear and warm in the summer The sunsets are beautiful. A close second to the beach is its great staff. Everyone has a smile to offer and is eager to be attentive to your needs and help however they can. They recently remodeled the pool and pool area and it is an amazing change. The first time we visited I did to even go into the small pool because the beach is so great and the pool back then was so small and not very attractive, but this new pool and area is chic, and has all the bells and whistles including a swim up bar with tables and benches in the water and lounges just under the water at the edge of the pool. The entertainment staff is super fun and friendly. The bartenders have great customer service and I must mention the groups events coordinator if you have any kind of special event. She is very professional and will go out of her way to age your event very special. We look forward to returning to Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo in many anniversaries to come.

We love vacationing at El Portillo. The staff, the cleanliness, the grounds, the food, the amazingly beautiful beach on which we can take long walks and snorkle to see all the stunning tropical fish without having to leave the premises. It holds a special place in our hearts. Special thanks to the following staff, but most importantly to Chef Roy, for making our 2 week stay most amazing and enjoyable. This place really deserves a perfect review! We have been to numerous all inclusive resorts, and this one is really the most wonderful! First of all the staff is absolutely amazing, the buffet, bars, front lobby all spectacular! The security staff are the most friendly and professional individuals. I wish I remembered all their names, but a special shout out to Emilio from security staff, just an outstanding person. One of our kids scraped her foot in the ocean, and Emilio along with a lifeguard attended right away, cleaning and covering the scrape! He was always greeting everyone with a smile, and most professional demeanor. The food is just unreal and the selection is overwhelming! We did not attend any a-lacrte restaurants as the food in the buffet was absolutely delicious and plentiful. The beach is on par with the best beaches in Caribbean! Calm water, clear, with plenty of places to snorkel. Rooms are extremely clean and we had no issues with AC or warm water. All in all a perfect relaxing family vacation and we are already booking a return trip for October this year! See you all soon!
